Common use of Surplus Employee Clause in Contracts

Surplus Employee. Refers to an employee who, because of a reduction in the number of employees in a job classification, will by application of the provisions of this Article either be moved to another job classification in the Departmental Seniority Unit in accordance with surplus provisions of this agreement, or laid off.
