Taking over Certificate Clause Samples
A Taking Over Certificate is a formal document issued by the project owner or engineer to confirm that the contractor has completed the works or a specified section of the works in accordance with the contract requirements. In practice, this certificate is typically issued after a final inspection, signifying that the project is ready for use or occupancy, and often marks the transition from construction to the defects liability or maintenance period. The core function of this clause is to provide an official record of project completion, triggering contractual milestones such as the release of retention money, commencement of warranty periods, and the transfer of responsibility for the works from the contractor to the owner.
