TEACHING HOURS. A. The teacher’s work day shall be seven (7) hours. B. Teachers shall be at their assigned place of duty no later than ten (10) minutes before classes begin at all levels. C. Teachers shall be allowed to leave school after students are dismissed and buses have left school property. The Board recognizes the principle of a standard (40) hour work week and will, so far as possible, set work schedules and make professional assignments which can reasonably be completed within such a standard work week. The Board will not require teachers regularly to work in excess of such standard work week within or outside of the school building. E. All teachers shall be entitled to a thirty (30) minute, duty-free uninterrupted lunch period as established in their building. F. No teacher may leave the building during his regular working hours unless he has received approval from his building principal. The teacher shall notify the principal when he leaves the building during the noon hour. G. The regular weekly teaching load in grades K-5 shall include five (5) unassigned preparation periods. Teachers will have an equivalent amount of preparation time, which may or may not be continuous. 1. Under no circumstances is a teacher obligated to give up their preparation time to take on an additional teaching hour. Once the additional teaching hour is agreed upon and the agreement form is signed, the teacher commits to this responsibility for the duration of the school year. TEACHING HOURS. A. 1. The teacher’s work day normal Teacher hours in the Buena Vista School District shall be not exceed seven and one- half (7-1/2) clock hours per day. (This does not count those teachers assigned and paid for extra duties.) Beginning the 2007-08 school year, normal teacher hours shall not exceed seven and three-quarters (7¾ ) clock hours per day. (a) Elementary teachers (Pre-K-5) shall not be required to exceed six (6) hours of pupil instruction time per day. TEACHING HOURS. A. The teacher’s work day All teachers shall be have a daily seven (7) hourshour and twenty (20) minute minimum contractual obligation inclusive of a duty free lunch period of not less than twenty-five (25) minutes. The duty free lunch period shall be a period of time during which said personnel shall be given no assigned duties other than taking those disciplinary actions upon students which are a normal part of a teacher's everyday duties. This time shall not include time used in monitoring students as they enter the building (from warning ▇▇▇▇ to ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇ - five (5) minutes). B. 1. The workday may be scheduled to start and end at different times in different buildings. TEACHING HOURS. A. The teacher’s work If a change in the school day becomes necessary, the Board and the Association agree to discuss the change. Mutual agreement of the parties shall be seven (7) hoursnecessary to implement the change. It is the intent of the parties that the mutual agreement not restrict the Board's right to determine programs. B. Teachers will be available and responsible during the school year for the following: 1. His/Her teaching assignment. 2. Individual conference(s) with parents and/or students. 3. Staff meetings shall be at no longer than one hour and fifteen (75) minutes in length. If a deviation from the established time is necessary, the building principal will contact the Association President and/or chief Negotiator through the Association Representative to reach agreement on the deviation. Accommodations will be made for those staff members that, because of prior commitments, cannot attend the extended staff meeting. 4. The regular weekly teaching load in grades 6-12 will be twenty-five (25) assigned periods and five (5) unassigned preparation periods. 1. Under no circumstances is a teacher obligated to give up their preparation time to take on an additional teaching hour. Once the additional teaching hour is agreed upon and the agreement form is signed, the teacher commits to this responsibility for the duration of the school year. However, the district has the ability to retract the 6th if enrollment numbers no longer continue to support it. 2. Administration may ask teachers in grades 6-12 to give up any amount of their 5 weekly preparation periods to teach during unassigned time. Teachers who agree to teach on their preparation time will be compensated at the rate of 1/6th of their yearly salary based on that year’s salary schedule. Payment for this time will be paid biweekly. 3. The aforementioned language shall not apply to substituting in any way. J. Attendance at Open House is requiredexpected. K. Teachers will be allowed to work remotely for the mid-year Records Day provided that all responsibilities (i.e. grade verifications, report cards, etc.) can be completed electronically.

TEACHING HOURS. A. The teacher’s work day usual starting and dismissal times for students shall be seven (7) hours.as follows: B.H.S. 7:35 a.m. 2:05 p.m. Middle 8:05 a.m. 2:25 p.m. Elementary 8:45 a.m. 2:50 p.m. B. Teachers shall and nurses at the secondary level will report to their buildings in sufficient time to be in their classrooms or at their assigned place of duty no later than other assignment at least ten (10) minutes before classes begin students' starting time, and shall remain in their buildings after the students' ending time for forty-five (45) minutes one day and fifteen (15) minutes on other days of the school week (except Friday), to provide instruction for pupils. Teachers at all levelsthe elementary level will report for duty in their respective buildings at least ten (10) minutes before the pupils' starting time and shall remain in their buildings after the pupils' closing time for ten (10) minutes each day of the school week. On Fridays, teachers may leave at student closing time provided that those who have been assigned duties have completed those duties. To the extent possible, Friday duties will be assigned equitably. Pre-K teachers shall report for duty at least 10 minutes before the pupil’s starting time and shall remain in their buildings after the pupils’ closing time for 15 minutes each day of the scheduled workday. On Fridays, teachers may leave at student closing time provided that those who have been assigned duties have completed those duties. To the extent possible, Friday duties will be assigned equitably. In no case shall the workday exceed 6 hours. C. Teachers Librarians and guidance counselors shall remain at their stations for the same hours as stated for teachers in Section B and longer where students' needs require. D. Every teacher shall be allowed a lunch period the same as, and apart from, that of his/her pupils. An elementary teacher shall be allowed the time of recess of his/her pupils except when the recess is indoors. ▇. The interpretation of teacher load should be of the broadest possible nature to leave allow for the flexibility needed by both administrator and teacher to attain the educational goals for our students. To accomplish this goal, middle school after students are dismissed and buses have left school property. All teachers will leave open have no more than thirty (30) teaching blocks, six (6) supervisory blocks and no less than six (6) unassigned blocks during a six (6) day period. Teachers may by mutual agreement teach additional blocks up to a maximum of six (6) per six-day period in lieu of a like number of supervisory blocks. High school teachers will have no more than thirty (30) teaching blocks, five (5) afternoons or mornings per month (excluding Fridayssupervisory blocks, the week(s) of parent teacher conferences and days preceding holidays or vacations) for possible mandatory staff, department and/or curriculum meetings. Early release PD’s count as one of the 5 monthly meetings. No more no fewer than two (2) meetings per week will be scheduled. These days and times (a.m. or p.m.) will be determined in each individual building. The administration has the flexibility to combine two meetings into one extended block of time not to exceed two hours. These extended meetings may occur up to three (3) times per year with a minimum of a two-week notice. These extended meetings will be tied to the early release PDs. On the weeks that there is a two (2) hour meeting, there will be no other mandatory meetings. A two-hour meeting will count as 2 of the 5 mandatory meetings for that month. *(One two hour is already schedule per calendar for April 5, 2023) D. The Board recognizes the principle of a standard (40) hour work week and will, so far as possible, set work schedules and make professional assignments which can reasonably be completed within such a standard work week. The Board will not require teachers regularly to work in excess of such standard work week within or outside of the school building. E. All teachers shall be entitled to a thirty (30) minute, duty-free uninterrupted lunch period as established in their building. F. No teacher may leave the building during his regular working hours unless he has received approval from his building principal.
