Time-Out Clause Samples

The "Time Out" clause establishes a specific period during which parties may pause or suspend certain obligations or proceedings under a contract. In practice, this clause might allow either party to temporarily halt performance, negotiations, or dispute resolution processes, often to facilitate further discussion, gather necessary information, or address unforeseen circumstances. Its core function is to provide flexibility and prevent hasty decisions, ensuring that parties have adequate time to resolve issues or reconsider their positions without breaching the contract.

Time-Out. If a child seems to be having difficulty with correcting inappropriate behavior, by either repeating behaviors already identified as unacceptable or refusing to acknowledge the seriousness of an infraction, staff members may utilize a “time-out”. This calls for a staff member to separate the child from the group’s activity and discuss more in depth the reason for the “time-out”. The duration of the “time-out” depends on the age of the child, nature of the presenting problem and the judgment of the staff member in charge. The child will remain under constant supervision during the “time-out” period. At the conclusion of the “time-out”, the child will be reunited back with the group and rejoin the activity. The parent will be notified of the situation by the staff member in charge. All incidents describing the situation which led to the “time-out” will be documented in the child’s file.
