Union Recognition and Negotiation. 4.01 The Employer recognizes and acknowledges the Union as the sole collective bargaining agent of the employees who are within the scope of this Collective Agreement, and the Employer hereby agrees to negotiate with the Union and with representatives elected or appointed by the said Union with respect to all the terms and conditions of employment and rates of pay and hours of work of all such employees. 4.02 The Union shall have the right at any time to have the assistance of representatives of the Canadian Union of Public Employees when dealing or negotiating with the Employer. 4.03 No employee(s) shall be required or permitted to make a written or verbal agreement with the Employer which conflicts with the terms of this Collective Agreement or with any compensation plan or system arising from it. 4.04 An officer of the Union shall be given a period of time of approximately twenty (20) minutes in order to acquaint new employees with the Union and this Collective Agreement.
