Use of Recycled Products. 27 For services rendered pursuant to this Agreement, CONTRACTOR shall use 28 recycled paper for all printed material such as brochures, reports, studies, and 29 promotional literature, that exceeds ten (10) pages, or if the cumulative total number of 30 pages per document or printed material times the number of copies made is in excess 31 of ten (10) pages. 32 21.19.1 For the purposes of this Section, “recycled paper” means a paper or 33 wood pulp product with not less than fifty percent (50%) off its total weight 34 consisting of secondary and post consumer waste and with not less than thirty 35 percent (30%) of its total weight consisting of post consumer waste. “Post 36 consumer waste” means a finished material that would normally be disposed of 37 as a solid waste, having completed its life cycle as a consumer item. “Secondary 38 waste” means fragments of products or finished products of a manufacturing 39 process that has converted a virgin resource into a commodity of real economic 40 value and includes post consumer waste but does not include fibrous waste 41 generated during the manufacturing process such as fibers recovered from waste 1 water or trimmings of paper machine rolls (mill broke), wood slabs, chips, 2 sawdust, or other wood residue from a manufacturing process. 3 21.19.2 CONTRACTOR may request an exemption from the requirements 4 of this Section by submitting such request in writing to CITY’s Director of 5 Environmental Services. Such a request may be approved or denied, in whole or 6 in part, at said Director’s sole discretion. CONTRACTOR shall not use, in the 7 performance of services under this Agreement, any product or material that does 8 not meet the standards set forth above without the prior written approval of said 9 Director.
