Vacation Requests and Seniority Clause Samples

The "Vacation Requests and Seniority" clause establishes how employee vacation requests are prioritized based on their length of service with the company. Typically, when multiple employees request overlapping vacation periods, those with greater seniority are given preference in scheduling their time off. For example, if two employees wish to take the same week off, the one who has worked at the company longer will generally have their request approved first. This clause ensures a fair and transparent process for allocating vacation time, reducing conflicts and misunderstandings among staff.
Vacation Requests and Seniority. Subject to Article 21.04 in a situation where two (2) or more employees in the same department have requested the same vacation days, the employee with the greatest seniority shall be granted their request except where another practice is agreed to between the Employer and employees of a particular department.
Vacation Requests and Seniority. In a situation where two (2) or more employees in the same classification in a work unit have requested the same vacation days, the employee in the same classification with the greatest seniority shall be granted their request except where another practice is agreed to between the employees on a particular work unit.
Vacation Requests and Seniority a) Vacation selections will be based on seniority and, in the case of equal seniority, the first submitted will be given preference. b) All vacation requests must be in full shifts and approvals will be subject to service requirements and in a manner that would not reduce the ACP complement below a minimum of 4 ACP ambulances plus the ACP first response unit on the day shifts (shifts starting between 0500 hours and 1459 hours) and 3 ACP ambulances plus the ACP first response unit on the night shifts (shifts starting between 1500 hours and 0459 hours). Requests received on shorter notice and/or last minute request will be considered, subject to staff availability. Requests denied will not be reconsidered unless resubmitted. c) Vacation requests will be submitted via electronic scheduler and/or on paper in the shift envelope and/or submit the request electronically via the electronic scheduler in accordance with Table #1 below. Any vacation request submitted outside of the deadlines outlined in Table #1 will be considered on a first come, first served basis provided the vacation request is received at least seven (7) calendar days prior to the applicable shift.

Related to Vacation Requests and Seniority

  • Vacation Requests Regular employees become eligible for paid vacation leave once they have completed six (6) months of continuous employment. Vacations requests must be submitted by no later than January 31st to be scheduled for the vacation calendar year of April 1 - March 31. Vacation time may be divided into blocks of one to two weeks in duration. Scheduling of vacation shall be in accordance with seniority within a classification. Where an employee chooses to split their vacation, they shall exercise seniority rights in the choice of the first vacation period. Seniority shall prevail in the choice of the second vacation period but only after all other first vacation periods have been selected. Remaining vacation periods will be scheduled in a fair and equitable manner amongst employees within a classification. The approved vacation schedule will be posted at the worksite on or before February 28th in each year. Employees will be limited to booking a maximum of two (2) consecutive weeks of vacation during prime vacation period (June 15 - September 15; and December 15 - January 5), unless further consecutive weeks would not interfere with the vacation preferences of less senior employees. The Employer will make every effort to accommodate requests for vacation of more than two (2) consecutive weeks outside of prime vacation periods. Employees failing to exercise their right to request vacation within the vacation selection time posted by the Employer will forfeit their seniority rights with respect to choice of vacation time. In such cases, the Employer reserves the right to schedule vacation time for the employee. A maximum of two (2) weeks of vacation time may be carried forward from one year to another. Employees who wish to carry vacation forward should notify the Employer by January 31st. If the employee has not requested all of their vacation leave, the Employer reserves the right to schedule the remaining vacation days within the last four (4) months of the calendar year. The Employer may also pay out unused vacation credits at the end of February each calendar year.
