Work of Bargaining Unit. 19.01 Excluded Personnel as outlined in Article 2.01 will not normally perform work customarily performed by employees in the bargaining unit, except: (a) as a result of urgent or emergency conditions, (b) for the purposes of demonstration or training, (c) to occasionally relieve an employee for a short period, or (d) when a regular employee is not available due to being late for work or absent from work and a suitable replacement is not available. 19.02 The Union recognizes that the Company is operating in a highly competitive and ever changing market. This market requires a continuous search for improvement in the ways in which the Company does business and services its customers. Where the search for such improvements results in the contracting out of work and thereby the termination of any regular employee(s) in the bargaining unit, such employee(s) may then elect to (a) exercise any rights available to him/her under this Collective Agreement, or (b) resign and receive a severance entitlement of one and one-half (1.5) weeks basic pay per completed year of service (calculated to the latest completed month of service), to a maximum of 52 weeks or age 65, whichever occurs first.
