WORKING CONDITIONS. 26.01 All full-time classroom teachers, including Special Education (including Resource and ABLE) who deliver credits, will be assigned time-tabled duties consisting of credit courses, credit -equivalent courses, TAP, worked on-calls, supervision, and remedial time to reach a 6.67 eligible program workload as defined in the Regulations made under the Education Act. WORKING CONDITIONS. 26.01 All fullA. The teachers' workday shall be 7½ hours per day (2,250 minutes per regular 5-day workweek), which shall include a 30-minute block of time classroom teachersper day for duty-free lunch.
B. Instructional time (i.e. instructing students) shall not exceed 1,500 minutes per regular 5-day workweek. Assigned tutoring responsibilities, including Special Education (including Resource excluding Advisory assignments at the middle school and ABLE) who deliver creditsAcademy assignments at the high school, will be considered instructional time for the purposes of Section C. of this Article.
C. Planning time shall not be less than 20% of the teacher's assigned timeinstructional time per 5- day workweek.
a. For full time teachers, planning time shall be neither less than 200 minutes nor more than 300 minutes per regular 5-tabled duties consisting of credit coursesday workweek.
b. Planning time shall be directed by the bargaining unit member to plan classroom lessons/programs, credit -equivalent coursescollaborate with colleagues, TAPreview student work, worked on-calls, supervisionmeet with students, and remedial communicate/meet with parents.
c. Subject to the provisions herein, planning time shall include a continuous block of time of no fewer than 40 minutes which shall be scheduled on at least 4 days during a regular 5-day workweek with the balance of such planning time scheduled during the remainder of the workweek.
d. If directed by the principal/designee, the teacher shall perform "spot sub" duty or other assigned work (including meetings called by the principal/designee) during the member’s planning time and shall be compensated in accordance with Section I. of Article 13.
e. Planning time may be disturbed by tornado drills, lockdowns, fire drills, assemblies, and other incidental interruptions in the regular workday or workweek.
f. Planning time shall not routinely be used to engage in personal business or to leave school grounds.
D. The remainder of the teacher's workday shall be student support time and non-instructional time as assigned by the principal/designee.
a. Such time shall include any passing time and may include any "duty" assignments; Advisory/Academy periods; traveling between buildings; participating in team meetings, JEP/IAT meetings, parent meetings, and other meetings called by the principal/designee; time to reach a 6.67 eligible program workload as defined in the Regulations made under the Education Act. Duties will be assigned as set out in Schedule A: Workload Assignmentsplan classroom lessons/programs; consult with colleagues; review student work; meet with students; and communicate/meet with parents.
26.02 Notwithstanding Article 26.01b. Teachers traveling between buildings shall not lose planning time nor lunch time due to travel between buildings.
c. For teachers traveling between buildings, Fullone-time Library, Guidance, Co-op and Special Education Teachers who do not deliver credits may be fully assigned to their areas. Teachers assigned in this manner half hour per day shall be given built into the schedule for lunch, as well as a workload approximating that weekly average of a classroom teacher.
26.03 Partthirty minutes of travel time and set-up time teacher workload shall be pro-rated to that of the teachers defined in Article 26.01 and as specified in Schedule A: Workload Assignments.
26.04 Teacher workload issues shall be resolved at the Secondary Staffing Committee.
26.05 In a semestered school, no classroom teacher will be assigned more than the equivalent of 3.5 eligible programs per semester (or equivalent for a non- semestered school) except by the mutual agreement of the teacher affected, the Board and the Union.

Teachers assigned left in this manner shall be given a workload approximating that charge of a classroom to supervise, except in cases of emergency. In this case, they shall be instructed to do so by their administrator or teacher. Aides shall not cover a classroom or a combination of classrooms for more than 30 minutes at one time or cumulatively through a single day without the approval of the Superintendent or designee.
26.03 Part4. Administration will meet with union annually to review and update procedures for distribution of medication.
B. The normal work day for 8 hour a day employees shall include a one-time teacher workload half (1/2) hour duty free lunch period, and should include two (2) fifteen (15) minute daily relief periods. A normal work day for a 6 but less than eight (8) hour a day aide shall include a one-half (1/2) hour duty free lunch period. In buildings where more than one 8 hour or one 6 hour a day employee is housed, relief and lunch periods must be scheduled so that the building operation is not hindered. Any employee working more than four (4) hours but less than six (6) hours shall be pro-rated to that of the teachers defined in Article 26.01 and as specified in Schedule A: Workload Assignmentsprovided a fifteen (15) minute break.

WORKING CONDITIONS. 26.01 All fullA. Time Schedules- Work Year
1. Support Staff workday starting and ending times shall be determined by the Administration.
2. Support Staff may be required by the Superintendent to work additional days beyond those set forth in Article 24. A1. Their rate of pay for these additional days shall be on a pro rata basis.
3. Secretaries, Teacher Aides, Library Personnel, ELL Tutor, RtI Behavioral Interventionists, LAC Supervisor, Nurse, and Health Care Providers shall observe the same school year holiday schedule as the Certified Staff.
4. In the event an individual teacher aide’s student is absent for any given day, the individual aide will report to the Principal or designee for reassignment of duties for that day.
5. During the year part-time classroom teacherscustodians shall work up to a twenty-nine-hour work week. Any custodian called out for an emergency situation shall be entitled to a minimum of $30.00 plus one hour’s pay. If the call out is approved by the Superintendent, including Special Education (including Resource time and ABLE) who deliver creditsone-half will be paid for snow removal on Saturdays and double time will be paid for snow removal on Sundays.
6. The work week shall be from Saturday at 3:00 AM to the following Saturday at 2:59 AM.
7. Support Staff may also be required to work for special school events such as dances and field trips, Science Fair, Art Fair, or athletic events with pay. The employer will first consider volunteers among those qualified. If there are insufficient volunteers, the duties will be assigned timeby lowest seniority among those qualified.
8. Nothing in this Article shall require any 10-tabled duties consisting Month secretaries, regular education or special education teacher aides, Northlawn library secretary, District library secretary, library clerks, RtI behavioral interventionists, Learning Center Supervisor, nurse, health care providers, or ELL tutor to report to work when the schools or school offices are officially closed by the Superintendent for emergency days. 12-Month secretaries will report to work or use paid time off when schools or school offices are officially closed by the Superintendent for emergency days.
9. Support Staff who attend in-service or other training shall be paid their hourly rate for all hours worked.
10. Day-time Support Staff lunch periods will fall between the times of credit courses10:30 AM-1:30 PM daily. On early dismissal days’ lunch periods for day-time support staff will fall between the times of 10:00 AM-1:00 PM. All eligible employees are required to take a lunch period daily.
11. On non-student attendance days, credit -equivalent courses, TAP, worked on-calls, supervisioncustodial staff will be allowed to exercise flex time in coordination with, and remedial subject to approval by the building administrator.
12. All non-certified employees are required to use time clocks to reach clock in and out of every shift, including lunch breaks, beginning with the 2021-2022 school year. Any falsification, tampering or unauthorized viewing of time clock records is not permitted. If an employee is unable to punch in or out because of a 6.67 eligible program workload as defined in time clock malfunction or accidental oversight, it is the Regulations made under the Education Actemployee’s responsibility to immediately inform his/her supervisor.
13. Duties All support staff members will be assigned as set out in Schedule A: Workload Assignments.

Class size shall be made to ensure that no teacher shall be allocated assigned time over a continuous interval exceeding 150 minutes excluding travel time between periods and/or breaksin accordance with the rules and regulations in Section 226.730 in the 23 Illinois Administrative Code Part 226.
26.08 Except in E. Class/Group Coverage: When sub duty is needed, an administrator will take into consideration the case of a teacher emergency, teachers shall be notified of any on-call assignments before the close daily and weekly schedule of the previous school day.

2a. Teachers and therapists will be granted compensation (for subbing), if they are requested to sub on a day in which their own schedule includes teaching/conducting group/involvement with students four or more periods.
b. Certified teaching staff and non-teaching certified staff who perform sub duty may earn a $23 per hour stipend for each period subbed for the 2021- 2022, and 2022-2023 school years. An administrator or designee must pre- approve all sub duty and compensation. Counselors, Social Workers or Therapists will be used as a last resort as determined by the principal.
c. Program Assistant
i. Only program assistants with the appropriate credentials (teaching certificate or substitute certificate) As part of will be asked to teach a class. These documents must be on file in staff personnel file.
ii. Based on program needs, an administrator will designate individuals to provide substitute services. They will also determine when and where these services are needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS. 26.01 Teachers shall be required to report to their teaching station (classroom) ten (10) minutes before the opening of the pupils’ regular school day in the morning. The pupil day begins with the first bell of the day. Teachers are encouraged to remain for a sufficient period after the close of the pupils’ school day to attend to those matters, which properly require attention at that time, including consultations with parents when scheduled directly with the teachers.
1. The normal weekly teaching load in the middle and senior high schools will include five (5) unassigned preparation periods. Assignment to a supervised study period shall be considered a teaching period for purposes of this Article. 3. Each teacher shall receive a minimum of two hundred and fifty (250) minutes of preparation time per week. Only recess and all time in which an elementary classroom teacher’s class is being instructed by a special activities teacher shall be counted as recognized preparation time in accordance with the foregoing. In the event of inclement weather one (1) teacher per grade can be expected to furnish supervision for the children during recess periods. No teacher will be expected to supervise more than three (3) indoor recesses per year. The principal will post and schedule one (1) week in advance indicating teachers that will supervise indoor recess in the event of inclement weather.

WORKING CONDITIONS. 26.01 All 16.01 Time for which DECEs are paid outside of the instructional day where DECEs are not on scheduled breaks or engaged in scheduled supervision shall be used for professional activities related to the Early Learning Program.
16.02 Each full-time classroom teachersDECE shall be entitled to a scheduled time period of thirty (30) consecutive minutes each day for an unpaid lunch break, free from assigned duties.
16.03 Each full-time DECE shall be entitled to the equivalent of two (2) fifteen (15) minute paid breaks for each working day. The general intent of the Board is to schedule all breaks outside of instructional time and the Board will endeavor to schedule in this way. However, there are circumstances where it may not be possible and the Board will advise the union of its rationale in these circumstances.
16.04 The working year shall be the school year as approved by the Ministry of Education including Special Education all professional activity days.
16.05 The scheduled working day for all permanent DECEs will consist of seven (including Resource 7) hours per day, thirty-five (35) hours per week. The scheduled working day for a daily occasional DECE will consist of a maximum of 6.5 hours per day.
16.06 DECEs are expected by the Board to work in excess of their regular scheduled day for the fall open house and ABLEspring orientation night. In recognition of this, lieu time shall be granted in blocks of one-half (1/2) who deliver credits, day for each event or one full day for both events. This lieu time will be assigned timetaken on Board designated days during the school year. The Board will designate two (2) days for this purpose throughout the year from November to June. Lieu time will not be carried over from year to year. Where a DECE has been requested and pre-tabled duties consisting of credit authorized by the Principal to attend scheduled meetings (eg. meetings with outside agencies) that cannot be scheduled within the regular scheduled working day during the school year, the DECE will be paid at straight time from the school’s budget.
16.07 The Board shall reimburse a DECE in accordance with the Board’s Travel and Expense Reimbursement Policy for any courses, credit -equivalent courses, TAP, worked onconferences or workshops attended by the DECE at the request of the Board.
16.08 DECEs required to travel on Board business will be paid in accordance with the Board’s Mileage Reimbursement Procedure.
16.09 DECEs may participate in extra-calls, supervision, and remedial time curricular activities on a voluntary basis.

It is expressly understood that the teacher preparation/conference period is subject to the total school program; and, as a result, such things as special events, field trips, testing programs, emergency class needs, and assemblies, etc., may from time to time be substituted for preparation/conference time. Preparation/Conference periods shall be used for such things as thorough preparation, conferences with parents, teachers, and administrators, and special assistance to students. Preparation/Conference time shall not be mandated to work used or spent on any days preceding (unconnected or following) non-school activity, except in emergency situations and with the official start (end) permission of the school yearprincipal or his designee. WORKING CONDITIONS. 26.01 Teachers shall be required to report to their teaching station (classroom) ten (10) minutes before the opening of the pupils’ regular school day in the morning. The pupil day begins with the first ▇▇▇▇ of the day. Teachers are encouraged to remain for a sufficient period after the close of the pupils’ school day to attend to those matters, which properly require attention at that time, including consultations with parents when scheduled directly with the teachers.
1. The normal weekly teaching load in the middle and senior high schools will include five (5) unassigned preparation periods. Assignment to a supervised study period shall be considered a teaching period for purposes of this Article. The student day shall begin at 7:50 a.m. and end at 2:45 p.m. The teacher day shall begin at 7:40 a.m. and end at 2:55 p.m. Teachers shall be expected to remain on duty as long as needed in the event of emergency situations similar to, but not limited to, severe weather warnings.
2. All fullteachers shall have a duty-free uninterrupted lunch period of no less than thirty-five (35) minutes. Secondary teachers may be assigned lunch supervision in lieu of a teaching period when it can be demonstrated that no classroom teaching is available. Implementation of this provision will be to insure the fullest workday possible for the affected teachers.
3. Each teacher shall receive a minimum of two hundred and fifty (250) minutes of preparation time per week. Only recess and all time in which an elementary classroom teacher’s class is being instructed by a special activities teacher shall be counted as recognized preparation time in accordance with the foregoing. In the event of inclement weather one (1) teacher per grade can be expected to furnish supervision for the children during recess periods. No teacher will be expected to supervise more than three (3) indoor recesses per year. The principal will post and schedule one (1) week in advance indicating teachers that will supervise indoor recess in the event of inclement weather.
4. It is accordingly agreed that such extra-curricular activities shall not exceed two (2) hours per week, or six (6) hours per month with the exception of two (2) formal parent-teacher conferences per school year. When teachers are required to participate in night parent-teacher conferences they shall be granted released time within the same calendar week equal to the time scheduled for the conferences.
6. A teacher engaged during the school day in negotiating on behalf of the Association with any representative for the Board or participating in any formal professional grievance negotiation, including Special Education (arbitration, shall be released from regular duties without loss of salary.
7. Any classroom teaching assignments in addition to the normal teaching schedule during the regular school day or year, including Resource adult education courses, driver education courses, extra duties enumerated in Appendix B, and ABLE) who deliver creditssummer school courses, shall not be obligatory but shall be with the consent of the teacher. Preference in making such assignments will be given to tenure teachers of equal qualifications regularly employed in the District.
8. When a teacher is assigned timeless than a full day, he/she will receive a prorated salary and benefits. The pro-tabled duties consisting of credit courses, credit -equivalent courses, TAP, worked onration factor will be 1/6 (16 2/3%) on a seven-calls, supervisionhour day and 1/5 (20%) on a six-hour day, and remedial time to reach 1/3 (33%) on a 6.67 eligible program workload as defined in the Regulations made under the Education Actfour hour day. Duties The pro- ration factor will be based on assigned as set out in Schedule A: Workload Assignmentsteaching hours. (Note – this pro-ration factor allows for pro-rated compensation for planning time.)
26.02 Notwithstanding Article 26.019. Because of the nature of the social worker’s, Full-time Librarycounselor’s and librarian’s work, Guidanceif the Board requires a social worker’s, Co-op counselor’s or librarian’s length of employment to precede the regular teacher’s contract year by at least one (1) week and Special Education Teachers who do not deliver credits may be fully assigned extend beyond the regular teacher’s contract by at least one (1) week, such additional weeks are to their areas. Teachers assigned in this manner shall be given a workload approximating that of a classroom teacher.

Objections to earlier written or verbal discipline or suspensions with pay may be raised at the time classroom teachers, including Special Education of suspension or discharge. 26.06 Each teacher postings to the Federation President, or her/his designee. The Superintendent shall have a lunch break of a minimum of forty (40) consecutive minutes between classes, free from assigned duties, between full authority to transfer or reassign personnel according to the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
26.07 Every effort shall be made to ensure that no teacher shall be allocated assigned time over a continuous interval exceeding 150 minutes excluding travel time between periods and/or breaks.
26.08 Except in the case of a teacher emergency, teachers shall be notified of any on-call assignments before the close needs of the previous school day.
26.09 Teachers district within the policies of the Board of Education. Employees shall not be mandated reduced in salary through any such transfer or reassignment except for cause, which may include the elimination of a position.
3. All bargaining unit members working at least six and one-half (6.5) hours per day shall be entitled to at least a twenty-five minute (25) unpaid duty free lunch in addition to the normal work day. The school nurse is entitled to an unpaid duty free lunch, which may only be interrupted by an emergency, which is not included in the normal workday. In circumstances where the nurse’s lunch is interrupted, he/she will be paid for the lunch period.
4. Any employee required by the Board to use his/her personal automobile in the discharge of his/her job duties shall be reimbursed for his/her mileage at the IRS approved rate. The Federation shall provide the board with the IRS approved rate.
5. When the opening of school is delayed due to inclement weather, paraprofessionals and secretarial bargaining unit members shall be allowed to come in to work any days preceding (at their normal start time, or following) permitted to come in at the official start (end) of the same time as students. When school yearis closed early due to inclement weather, bargaining unit members shall be allowed to stay until their normal end time, or leave after student dismissal. Paraprofessional and secretarial bargaining unit members shall be paid for hours actually worked on such days. Other bargaining unit employees shall be required to work their normal shifts on such dates.
26.10 The length 6. Bargaining unit members assigned to cover a position with a higher hourly wage shall receive the higher rate of pay for the school year time worked in that position when they work for more than two (2) consecutive hours.
7. Employees who job share shall split the paid leave on a pro-rata basis, provided that all job share arrangements require the Superintendent’s approval.
8. Night Shift custodians shall be granted a paid ½ hour supper break as long as they remain on campus. If a night shift custodian chooses to leave the minimum required under thecampus, they must mark the time on their time sheet. Upon return they shall complete the remainder of their shift so that on campus time equals eight (8) hours.
26.11 Unassigned time 9. Custodians and other 12 month employees who come to work when school is cancelled due to weather conditions shall work until they complete their normal shift unless the Superintendent/Principal makes a decision that conditions pose a safety hazard to return to home. In the case when the Governor announces a state of emergency, all employees shall be available required to each teacher for preparation leave the building and markingreturn to home.

The Administration shall provide a minimum of two hundred twenty-five (225) minutes per five-(5) day work week of planning time for each full-time classroom teachersand itinerant Teacher. Such plan time shall be provided in a daily block of no less than 25 continuous minutes, including Special Education (including Resource Subject and ABLE) who deliver credits, Grade level teachers will have a minimum common plan time 1 or 2 times a week. Every teacher shall be entitled to a duty free lunch period equivalent to the regular school lunch period but in any event no less than 30 consecutive minutes per day.
4.2 Students will be assigned time-tabled duties consisting of credit coursesdismissed early four (4) days per month for faculty meetings (1 Faculty Meeting, credit -equivalent courses, TAP, worked on-calls, supervision1 Committee Meeting, and remedial two (2) Departmental Meetings). The departmental meeting agendas shall be at the discretion of the Association, and the faculty meeting agenda and committee meeting agenda shall be at the discretion of the Administration.
4.3 When a Teacher feels that he or she absolutely must be absent from the school during working hours for a period of time to reach during a 6.67 eligible program workload as defined school day, the Teacher must notify the office and state in writing the Regulations made under time or the Education Act. It is understood that it is the responsibility of the Teacher, or their designee, to inform the Administration, or its designee, if at all possible no later than 6:30 a.m. the day of the absence or as set out soon thereafter as practicable when the employee knows he/she will not be able to report to work. Internal substitution may be utilized when warranted and auxiliary personnel may be used as substitute teachers in Schedule A: Workload Assignmentsemergency situations only. A licensed employee who substitutes, voluntarily or involuntarily, during their own non-class time, or takes 50% or more of another teacher's homeroom, shall be compensated at the rate of $30.00 per hour. This rate shall be paid in increments of 15 minutes.
26.02 Notwithstanding Article 26.014.5 In lieu of homeroom assignments, Full-time Library, Guidance, Co-op and Special Education Teachers who do not deliver credits may be fully assigned other school responsibilities without additional pay. Every effort will be made to their areasrelieve Teachers of lunch playground duty.
4.6 Teachers shall be paid on a twelve (12) month basis twice a month. Pay days shall be on the fifteenth (15th) and the thirtieth (30th) of each month or on the Friday immediately preceding the payday if it shall fall on Saturday or Sunday. The first payment for a given school year shall be made in September of that year. Teachers assigned in this manner shall be given the option of direct deposit, subject to a workload approximating that maximum set-up fee of a classroom teacher$100.00 per year and no additional cost to the District.
26.03 Part-4.7 In order that Teachers have more time teacher workload shall be pro-rated to that of the teachers defined in Article 26.01 and as specified in Schedule A: Workload Assignments.
26.04 Teacher workload issues shall be resolved at the Secondary Staffing Committee.
26.05 In a semestered school, no classroom teacher will be assigned more than the equivalent of 3.5 eligible programs per semester (or equivalent for a non- semestered school) except by the mutual agreement of the teacher affectedteach, the Board and Association agree to the Unionfollowing routine task reduction plan:
A. The school register shall be maintained by the office and certified by the respective Teacher at the end of each school year.
26.06 Each teacher shall have a lunch break of a minimum of forty (40) consecutive minutes between classes, free from assigned duties, between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
26.07 B. Every effort shall be made to ensure that no teacher shall be allocated assigned time over a continuous interval exceeding 150 minutes excluding travel time between periods and/or breaksstreamline procedures for the collection of lunch money and money-making projects.
26.08 Except in the case of a teacher emergency, teachers shall be notified of any on-call assignments before the close of the previous school day.
26.09 C. Teachers shall not be mandated required to work any days preceding fill out biographical and health data on permanent and temporary record information cards.
4.8 Class size within grade level will be kept as equal as possible except in cases when students transfer out of the district mid-year. The number of sections per grade level will be kept as equal as possible in each department (or following) i.e. Primary, Intermediate, Jr. High). A student requiring extra attention due to his/her special needs could be weighted as more than one student. Other experimental programs that may be developed could result in having a lower class size.
4.9 Notification of assignment: Teachers will be assigned teaching duties no later than two weeks before the official start (end) beginning of the school year.
26.10 The 4.10 Seniority, Reduction in Force and Recall
A. Seniority: Administration shall maintain and annually update a Seniority List reflecting the length of continuing service of each teacher to the District. Length of service begins with the initial date of work as a permanent employee and includes all work days in which the teacher is present, on paid leave, or on unpaid Family and Medical leave. If two or more teachers have the same amount of teaching experience in the District, the Teacher with the most years of teaching experience at any public school in Illinois shall be deemed most senior. If a tie still exists, the teacher with the highest college degree plus credit hours will be deemed most senior. Administration shall provide a copy of the updated Seniority List to teachers each year at least 75 calendar days before the end of each school year.
B. Reduction in Force: When the Board of Education deems it necessary to reduce the number of certified staff in the District because of reasons such as declining enrollments, inadequate finances, the elimination of programs, or consolidation, every effort will be made to make reductions through attrition. If this is not possible, then reductions shall be in accordance with Section 24-12(b) of the Illinois School Code. Any teacher subject to honorable dismissal under a reduction in force shall be notified in writing by certified mail at least forty five (45) calendar days before the end of the school year year. A Sequence of Honorable Dismissal list will be provided to the Association President at least seventy-five (75) calendar days before the end of each school year. To prepare the list, the administration shall provide each teacher with a verification sheet listing the teacher’s seniority date, ratings of the last three evaluations and all the subjects for which the teacher is licensed and qualified to teach as of May 10 of the prior school year. Each teacher will have ten (10) calendar days to challenge the accuracy of any of the information on the verification sheet. The District will correct any errors and provide the Association President with a corrected copy of the Honorable Dismissal list. A joint District-Association Committee on Honorable Dismissals shall meet annually by December 1 and, consistent with the limitations set forth in the school code, shall consider alternative definitions for placement of teachers in Group 3 and Group 4 and whether PERA evaluations issued by another school district will be considered in determining a teacher’s Group placement for honorable dismissals. The joint committee shall be comprised of an equal number of District representatives and Association representatives, with each party appointing its own representatives to the minimum required under the
26.11 Unassigned time shall be available to each teacher for preparation and marking.
26.12 For teachers who are assigned TAP:
a) materials required committee. The joint committee must reach agreement, by majority vote, on or before February 1 of a school year in order for the delivery agreement to apply to the sequence of dismissal determined during that school year. If the joint committee does not reach agreement on a matter, the provisions of Section 24-12(b) of the program School Code shall be supplied;
b) the maximum time assigned shall not exceed thirty (30) minutes per week on average over the school year;
c) the TAP assignments shall be subject apply to review by the Secondary Staffing Committeethat matter.
26.13 No teacher shall be assigned duties normally performed by management, or by other bargaining units.
26.14 The Principal of each secondary school will forward to the District Office as soon as possible, or by September 15 at the latest, a copy of each teacher’s workload assignment for the year.
1) All TAP, remedial time, supervision and on-calls shall be equitably timetabled and performed inside the instructional day. Any scheduling of TAP, remedial time, supervision and on-calls outside of the instructional day must be with the mutual consent of the teacher affected, the Principal, the Board, and the Union.
2) As part of the 6.67 eligible program workload, full-time classroom teachers shall be assigned TAP, Remedial Time, Supervision and Worked On-Calls according to the following schedule: a) 0.42 equivalent program of: TAP, Supervision and including up to twenty

WORKING CONDITIONS. 26.01 All fullA. Employees will be advised prior to the end of the school year as to the continuation of their employment in the following school year.
B. Employees will work on all days when schools are in session in accordance with the school calendar adopted by the Board. Special Education Teaching Assistants will also work on Orientation Day and one fall Superintendent’s Conference Day. Classroom Education Teaching Assistants will work no more than 140 days commencing on or about October 1st and ending on or about May 31st and one fall Superintendent’s Conference Day, unless the Superintendent authorizes such teacher assistants in writing, to work in excess of 140 days when schools are in session. Chapter teachers will work at least 140 days when school is in session, Orientation day, and one fall Superintendent’s Conference Day, unless the Superintendent authorizes such Chapter teachers in writing to work in excess of 140 days when schools are in session.
C. Part-time classroom teachersemployees who have been in the employ of the Board for more than three years will receive paid vacation days in accordance with the following schedule. D. In the event that a school is closed (due to inclement weather, special observances, or emergency situations), and such days are not rescheduled as a school day, all employees shall be paid for the number of hours they are regularly scheduled to work.
E. Employees of this unit shall be afforded preference for occasional additional unit work assignments that arise from time to time including Special Education additional hours authorized by the principal when a substitute is not available. Employees interested in being considered for such additional work hours shall advise the building principal and their names shall be placed on an “Extra Work Assignment Rotational Roster” in order of their length of service in the district. The building principal or designee shall make assignments on a rotation basis in such a manner that reflects as near as possible the equal assignment of work on a bi monthly basis (including Resource and ABLE) who deliver credits, will 2). No one employee may be assigned time-tabled duties consisting on a regular basis, which exceeds 15 days in any one month without the specific approval of credit courses, credit -equivalent courses, TAP, worked on-calls, supervision, and remedial time to reach a 6.67 eligible program workload as defined in the Regulations made under the Education Act. Duties will be assigned as set out in Schedule A: Workload AssignmentsSuperintendent of Schools.
26.02 Notwithstanding Article 26.01F. All part-time members of the bargaining unit shall be entitled to four (4) days of paid sick leave per school year. Unused sick leave shall be cumulative up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) days. A “day” for this purpose means the number of hours the employee is normally scheduled to work. ▇▇▇▇ leave shall be credited on the first work day of September each year. New employees hired after completion of the first semester shall be credited with one sick leave day upon employment. Monitors, Title I Teachers and part-time Teaching Assistants shall be entitled to one personal day per school year. Unused personal days may not be accumulated.
G. Full-time Library, Guidance, Co-op and Special Education Teachers who do not deliver credits may Computer Assistants will:
a) be fully assigned appointed to their areas. Teachers assigned in this manner shall be given a workload approximating that of a classroom teacherthree (3) year probationary period as Teaching Assistants.

WORKING CONDITIONS. 26.01 All fullA. Punctuality is one ▇▇▇▇ of a professional teacher. Teachers shall use the school day for planning, preparing, and executing their teaching assignments. Proper planning with detailed lesson plans shall be evident at all times and available to the Building Principals.
B. Certified teachers shall receive one (1) class period per day for planning, as the schedule allows.
C. The teacher work day will be seven hours and forty minutes which will include at least a forty minute lunch period. Nothing in this article infringes on the right of the administration to schedule staff meetings in excess of time limitations.
D. Teachers will have a duty free lunch period as prescribed by the Illinois School Code. Teachers will be permitted to leave school during the lunch period upon notification to the office of the Building Principal prior to leaving the building.
E. The Board, with respect to all board meetings, will provide one copy of the board packet to each BVEA building representative prior to the board meeting. The packet shall include the agenda, minutes of previous board meeting, Superintendent's Report, and a listing of the bills paid by the Board at its previous board meeting.
F. Certified and Non-time classroom teacherscertified positions that are newly created or become open because of resignation, death, retirement, vacancies caused by transfers or failure to reappoint will be publicized to the staff via e-mail by the superintendent and/or designee. The position will not be filled for at least five (5) calendar days after notification.
G. A Special Education Work Load Committee will be comprised of one special education rep from middle school, one special education rep from the elementary school, and one administrator. We will create a Workload Help Request Form that will address all of the domains listed below. Anytime a special education teacher has a concern in one of those areas, he or she will submit the form (the form will be sent to the members of the Workload Committee). The committee will meet to discuss the concern and proceed as needed. This will eliminate the gathering of unneeded data; we will only address viable concerns as they come up. The Committee shall meet regularly to consider the activities for which the District’s special educators are responsible, including Special Education but not limited to:
1. Individualized instruction;
2. Consultative services and other collaboration among staff members;
3. Attendance at IEP meetings and other staff conferences;
4. Paperwork and reporting.
5. Caseload size/classroom size
H. SPECIAL EDUCATION PLANNING: With administrative approval, teachers who are required to write IEPs will receive the following times listed below. Planning sessions are to be held on school grounds. All IEP leave days must be requested no later than two (including Resource 2) school days prior to the requested day.
1. One hour of IEP writing leave time per each student on a primary caseload (i.e. 8 IEPs = 1 day; 12 IEPs = 1 ½ days, etc.). (These preparation days can be taken in ½ day increments.)
2. One quarter hour per each student on a related service caseload (i.e. 32 IEPs with related services = 1 day).
3. The number of days taken for IEP preparations shall not exceed 2 days.
I. All support personnel with less than twelve (12) months of service shall be deemed probationary and ABLE) who deliver creditsmay be relieved of their duties at the discretion of the Superintendent and Board of Education.
J. For support staff, discipline shall include oral warning, written warning, suspension without pay and termination. No employee shall be suspended without pay or terminated without just cause. It shall be the responsibility of the building principal or immediate supervisor to bring to the attention of the employee deficiencies in the employee’s work program or performance of assigned work, and when the matter is an oral or written reprimand, to make a record of the same in writing. One copy of said record is to be provided to the employee. Disciplinary action will be assigned time-tabled duties consisting progressive, except for gross misconduct in accordance with the following schedule: i Verbal Warning ii Written Warning iii One to five day suspension without pay iv Termination
K. Fair Share Fee Payers
1. All employees covered by this Agreement who are not members of credit courses, credit -equivalent courses, TAP, worked on-calls, supervisionthe Union, and remedial time so long as they remain non-members of the Union, shall pay to reach the Union each month their fair share of the costs of the services rendered by the Union that are chargeable to non-members under state and federal law.
2. Such non-member fair share payment that has been documented to the Board shall be deducted from the earnings of the non-member employees and remitted to the Union in conformity with state law and Labor Board rules.
3. The Board shall cooperate with the Union by providing the names of all employee non-members of the Union from whose earnings the fair share payments shall be deducted, their work locations and provide space to post a 6.67 eligible program workload as defined in notice concerning fair share.
4. The Union shall cause to be posted a notice concerning the Regulations made under fair share fee information that is permitted by the Education Labor Relations Act and required by Board rules.
5. Upon adoption of any Union procedure, the Union shall supply the Board with a copy. In addition, the Union shall advise the Board of subsequent changes.
6. Upon receipt of formal notice of an objection or unfair labor practice charge to the Labor Board, the Union and the Board agree to comply with the provisions of the Labor Relations Act. Duties will The Board shall forward the objector’s fee or portion of the objector’s fee being contested to the Labor Board to be assigned as set out placed in Schedule A: Workload Assignmentsan escrow account pending settlement of the question.
26.02 Notwithstanding 7. The Union shall indemnify and hold harmless the Board, its members, officers, agents and employees from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, complaints, suits or other forms of liability that shall arise out of, or by reason of action taken by the Board for the purposes of complying with the above provisions of this Article, or in reliance on any list, notice, certification, affidavit, or assignment furnished under any such provisions.
8. If during the term of this Agreement, the Labor Board or a court of competent jurisdiction rules any part of this Article 26.01void or not enforceable, Fullthe Union and the Board agree to convene negotiations on this matter immediately for the sole purpose of bringing this Article into compliance with the standards of rulings of said Labor Board or court.
9. The right on non-time Library, Guidance, Co-op and Special Education Teachers who do not deliver credits association of employees based upon bona fide religious tenets or teachings of a church or religious body of which employees are members shall be protected. Such employees may be fully assigned required to pay an amount equal to their areas. Teachers assigned in proportionate share, determined pursuant to this manner shall be given Article, to a workload approximating that of a classroom teacher.
26.03 Partnon-time teacher workload shall be pro-rated to that of the teachers defined in Article 26.01 and as specified in Schedule A: Workload Assignments.

WORKING CONDITIONS. 26.01 15.1 Morning duty, Recess duty, and any other non-classroom duties which are necessary for maintaining a well-run school and assuring the safety of the students will be considered part of the regular work day for teachers. Before August 15 the Building Principals shall meet with the President of the Association or his/her designee to discuss the proposed duty schedule for the coming school year. 15.2 The "normal" on-call assignments before site workday for members shall begin fifteen (15) minutes prior to the beginning of the student day until fifteen (15) minutes after the close of the previous student day as set forth by board Policy for the 2002-2003 school dayyear. While all teachers are expected on occasion to carry on on-site obligations outside the normal workday, it is understood that these occasions will not be so frequent as to be considered part of the usual daily routine. The preceding sentence is not intended to increase the number of workdays permitted under Section 14.1.
26.09 Teachers 15.3 All bargaining unit members shall be scheduled a duty-free, uninterrupted lunch period equal to the student lunch period.
15.4 The District shall provide teachers with a minimum of 4 unencumbered planning periods per 5- day workweek. For elementary teachers, this planning time shall occur when students are scheduled for art, music, P.E., technology education plus an additional 25 minutes per student day. The current level of planning time shall not be mandated reduced without the consent of both parties.
15.5 Teachers who substitute or are required to perform District-related work any resulting in the loss of a planning period will be reimbursed at the rate of $30.00 per hour pro-rated up or down to the nearest fifteen minutes. If this substitution continues for more than ten (10) school days preceding for a position that has not been filled, the teacher shall receive one third (or following) the official start (end1/3) of their salary for the portion of the work year (the fractional portion of the 183-day work year) that s/he fills this position. This sentence will apply to members of the high school staff based upon the current block schedule of classes. For the members of the middle school staff, the teacher shall receive one fifth (1/5) of their salary for the portion of the work year (the fractional portion of the183-day work year) that s/he fills this position. If the schedule of classes changes from the current configurations, the preceding ratios will be changed to reflect the new schedule of teaching assignments.

WORKING CONDITIONS. 26.01 Teachers shall be required to report to their teaching station (classroom) ten (10) minutes before the opening of the pupils’ regular school day in the morning. The pupil day begins with the first bell of the day. Teachers are encouraged to remain for a sufficient period after the close of the pupils’ school day to attend to those matters, which properly require attention at that time, including consultations with parents when scheduled directly with the teachers.
1. The normal weekly teaching load in the middle and senior high schools will include five (5) unassigned preparation periods. Assignment to a supervised study period shall be considered a teaching period for purposes of this Article. The student day shall begin at 7:50 a.m. and end at 2:45 p.m. The teacher day shall begin at 7:40
a. m. and end at 2:55 p.m. Teachers shall be expected to remain on duty as long as needed in the event of emergency situations similar to, but not limited to, severe weather warnings.
2. All fullteachers shall have a duty-free uninterrupted lunch period of no less than thirty- five (35) minutes. Secondary teachers may be assigned lunch supervision in lieu of a teaching period when it can be demonstrated that no classroom teaching is available. Implementation of this provision will be to insure the fullest workday possible for the affected teachers.
3. Each teacher shall receive a minimum of two hundred and fifty (250) minutes of preparation time per week. Only recess and all time in which an elementary classroom teacher’s class is being instructed by a special activities teacher shall be counted as recognized preparation time in accordance with the foregoing. In the event of inclement weather one (1) teacher per grade can be expected to furnish supervision for the children during recess periods. No teacher will be expected to supervise more than three (3) indoor recesses per year. The principal will post and schedule one (1) week in advance indicating teachers that will supervise indoor recess in the event of inclement weather.
4. It is expressly understood that the teacher preparation/conference period is subject to the total school program; and, as a result, such things as special events, field trips, testing programs, emergency class needs, and assemblies, etc., may from time to time be substituted for preparation/conference time. Preparation/Conference periods shall be used for such things as thorough preparation, conferences with parents, teachers, and administrators, and special assistance to students. Preparation/Conference time shall not be used or spent on any unconnected or non-school activity, except in emergency situations and with the permission of the principal or his designee. In addition, it is expressly understood that teachers will not leave their buildings during preparation time on personal errands or the like, without permission of the principal or designee.
5. Daily preparation for effective teaching, correcting papers, themes, attending faculty meetings, and similar activities require many hours of application outside the classroom and add to the professional responsibilities of the teacher. In addition, attendance at staff conferences, parent-teacher conferences, PTO meetings, and the like, are encouraged as a professional responsibility of the teacher. It is recognized that these demands may be considered excessive. It is accordingly agreed that such extra-curricular activities shall not exceed two (2) hours per week, or six (6) hours per month with the exception of two (2) formal parent-teacher conferences per school year. When teachers are required to participate in night parent-teacher conferences they shall be granted release time within the same calendar week equal to the time scheduled for the conferences.
6. A teacher engaged during the school day in negotiating on behalf of the Association with any representative for the Board or participating in any formal professional grievance negotiation, including Special Education (arbitration, shall be released from regular duties without loss of salary.
7. Any classroom teaching assignments in addition to the normal teaching schedule during the regular school day or year, including Resource adult education courses, driver education courses, extra duties enumerated in Appendix B, and ABLE) who deliver creditssummer school courses, shall not be obligatory but shall be with the consent of the teacher. Preference in making such assignments will be given to tenure teachers of equal qualifications regularly employed in the District.
8. When a teacher is assigned timeless than a full day, he/she will receive a prorated salary and benefits. The pro-tabled duties consisting of credit courses, credit -equivalent courses, TAP, worked onration factor will be 1/6 (16 2/3%) on a seven-calls, supervisionhour day and 1/5 (20%) on a six-hour day, and remedial time to reach 1/3 (33%) on a 6.67 eligible program workload as defined in the Regulations made under the Education Actfour-hour day. Duties The pro- ration factor will be based on assigned as set out in Schedule A: Workload Assignmentsteaching hours. (Note – this pro-ration factor allows for pro-rated compensation for planning time.)
26.02 Notwithstanding Article 26.019. Because of the nature of the social worker’s, Full-time Librarycounselor’s and librarian’s work, Guidanceif the Board requires a social worker’s, Co-op counselor’s or librarian’s length of employment to precede the regular teacher’s contract year by at least one (1) week and Special Education Teachers who do not deliver credits may be fully assigned extend beyond the regular teacher’s contract by at least one (1) week, such additional weeks are to their areas. Teachers assigned in this manner shall be given a workload approximating that of a classroom teacher.
26.03 Part-time teacher workload shall be pro-rated to that of on the teachers defined in Article 26.01 and annual contract salary as specified set forth in Schedule A: Workload Assignments.
26.04 Teacher workload issues shall be resolved at the Secondary Staffing Committee.
26.05 In a semestered school, no classroom teacher will be assigned more than the equivalent of 3.5 eligible programs per semester (or equivalent for a non- semestered school) except by the mutual agreement of the teacher affected, the Board and the Union.
26.06 Each teacher shall have a lunch break of a minimum of forty (40) consecutive minutes between classes, free from assigned duties, between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
26.07 Every effort shall be made to ensure that no teacher shall be allocated assigned time over a continuous interval exceeding 150 minutes excluding travel time between periods and/or breaks.
26.08 Except in the case of a teacher emergency, teachers shall be notified of any on-call assignments before the close of the previous school day.
26.09 Teachers shall not be mandated to work any days preceding (or following) the official start (end) of the school year.

WORKING CONDITIONS. 26.01 All full-time classroom teachersA. Under normal circumstances, including Special Education (including Resource and ABLE) who deliver credits, will be assigned time-tabled employees shall perform those duties consisting of credit courses, credit -equivalent courses, TAP, worked on-calls, supervision, and remedial time to reach a 6.67 eligible program workload as defined in the Regulations made under appropriate job description with the Education Actfollowing exceptions:
1. Duties In the absence of the building principal or their designee, it is clearly understood that clerical staff shall not be held accountable for the administration of the building. The District will avoid having secretarial/clerical employees alone in the building. Should such an occasion arise, the affected employee(s) will be assigned as set out in Schedule A: Workload Assignmentspermitted to be transferred to another work location for that day or may choose to take a non-pay day if she is not eligible for vacation time.
26.02 Notwithstanding Article 26.012. Employees shall assist in first aid functions. It is not acceptable on anyone's part to abandon an injured or seriously sick person. The employee shall notify the administrator in charge immediately, Full-time Libraryfor these kinds of cases require immediate notice to parents, Guidancepolice and/or other emergency procedures available for such purposes.
3. It is the duty of a teacher aide to perform their normal duties, Co-op which is to assist the teacher, and Special Education Teachers who do shall not deliver credits may instruct a class nor be fully assigned to their areas. Teachers assigned left in this manner shall be given a workload approximating that charge of a classroom to supervise, except in cases of emergency. In this case, they shall be instructed to do so by their administrator or teacher. Aides shall not cover a classroom or a combination of classrooms for more than 30 minutes at one time or cumulatively through a single day without the approval of the Superintendent or designee.
26.03 Part4. Administration will meet with union annually to review and update procedures for distribution of medication.
B. The normal work day for 8 hour a day employees shall include a one-time teacher workload half (1/2) hour duty free lunch period and should include two (2) fifteen (15) minute daily relief periods. A normal work day for a 6 but less than eight (8) hour a day aide shall include a one-half (1/2) hour duty free lunch period. In buildings where more than one 8 hour or one 6 hour a day employee is housed; relief and lunch periods must be scheduled so that the building operation is not hindered. 26.05 In a semestered school, no classroom teacher will be assigned more than the equivalent of 3.5 eligible programs per semester (School Code or equivalent for a non- semestered school) except by the mutual agreement of the teacher affected, the Board and the Union.
26.06 Each teacher shall have a lunch break nonrenewal of a minimum of forty (40) consecutive minutes between classesnon-tenured teacher, free from assigned duties, between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
26.07 Every effort shall be made to ensure that no teacher shall be allocated assigned time over suspended nor withheld an increment, nor issued a continuous interval exceeding 150 minutes excluding travel time between periods and/or breaksnotice of remediation without cause.
26.08 Except in D. There shall be no more than 180 teacher responsibility days (or the case of a minimum required by law, whichever is greater) unless by extended contract.
E. The teacher emergencywork-day shall begin at 8 A.M. and end at 3:30 P.M. However, teachers shall devote such extra time necessary as determined by the Board/Administration for teacher meetings, parent/teacher conferences, student discipline, extra-duties, bus duty, and supervision of students in case of emergency. Teachers shall not be notified required to stay beyond the regular school day more than six (6) times per semester. Teachers shall be released when pupils are dismissed on days preceding holidays and vacations, Fridays, and the last student attendance day) except in cases of any on-call assignments before emergency. Permission may be granted by an administrator for early dismissal or late arrival in case of emergency. Teachers shall not be required to stay beyond the close regular school day more than six (6) times per semester.
F. Teachers will receive documentation for earned professional development hours within one (1) week of the previous training.
G. Teachers shall not be required to be in attendance when students are not present and school is closed due to inclement weather. However, if students are released early due to a combination of heat and humidity, teachers may be required to remain during their normal work day for faculty meetings such as curriculum work in air conditioned rooms
H. Any teacher may volunteer for extra-duty assignments and request a meeting with the principal to discuss the same. The Board and/or administration shall determine extra-duty assignments.
I. Teachers required by their positions in the school district to travel from one building to another during normal workday hours (excepting coaches) will be reimbursed at the IRS rate in effect on January 1st of each year. This will be for travel after the teacher has reported to his/her first assignment of the day and before leaving the last assignment of the day. Payment will be made monthly.
J. Other than for self-contained classrooms that develop their own schedules with administrative input the following would apply: Seven Period Day Eight Period Day Instructional or Contact Periods 5 5 Supervision Periods 1 1
