Developmental delay, unless a child has not attained developmental milestones expected for a child of that age, in cognitive or physical development.
May be recognised by: Developmental delay, attachment issues, aggressive behaviour, appeasing behaviour, watchfulness or stillness, low self esteem, withdrawn or a loner, or having difficulty in forming relationships.
Developmental delay is an optional category that states may chose to use for children age three through nine or some subset of that age range and may also determine eligibility criteria for developmental delay [34 CFR §300.313].
