Hazardous Materials Transport Specialist shall serve as the point of contact for International Air Transport Association (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR), International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code and Department of Transportation requirements for the shipment of hazardous materials.
The handling and transport of dangerous goods is subject to rules and regulations based on international transport agreements (ADR, RID, IMDG Code, IATA DGR, ICAO) in order to prevent injury to persons, damage to cargoes and living resources.
This shall specifically include, without limitation, dangerous goods as defined under the International Maritime Code for Dangerous Goods (IMDG Code).
This derogation does not apply in the case of goods classified as dangerous goods in classes 1 to 9 of ADR and considered as non-dangerous goods according to the applicable requirements of the IMDG Code or the ICAO Technical Instructions.
For each hazardous commodity in a container, APL will comply with all applicable international, federal, state, and local regulations, including but not limited to 49 CFR and the IMDG Code.
