Stream buffer definition

Stream buffer means a strip of land contiguous with and parallel to the bank of a perennial or intermittent stream, the width of which must be determined according to the latest version of Guidelines for Environmental Management of Development in Montgomery County, Maryland (MNCPPC).
Stream buffer means a strip of land located immediately adjacent to a stream channel consisting of natural, undisturbed vegetative cover, which serves as a transition area between uplands and riparian lands. A stream buffer may encompass wetlands, may be contained with a flood plain or floodway or may extend beyond a wetland, floodplain or floodway boundary.
Stream buffer means all lands lying within 50 feet, measured from the top of each normal bank of a perennial or intermittent stream.

Stream buffer means an area of land at or near a streambank, wetland, or waterbody that has intrinsic water quality value due to the ecological and biological processes it performs or is otherwise sensitive to changes which may result in significant degradation to water quality.
Stream buffer means a strip of land contiguous with and parallel to the bank of a perennial or intermittent stream, the width of which must be determined according to the latest version of the environmental guidelines.
Stream buffer means a vegetated strip of land which lies adjacent to a stream and provides such functions as protecting water quality, providing wildlife habitat and storing flood waters and allowing access for repair or maintenance of streambanks and channel. “Overbank Flood Protection” means providing on-site stormwater detention to limit runoff peak flow rates from the 20% annual recurrence (previously expressed as 5-year recurrence interval) storm event to prevent downstream surcharge of conveyance systems and reduce overbank flooding. At the site development level, this can be accomplished by providing detention practices with multi-stage outlets that control the outflow from these events to pre-settlement conditions (meadow in good condition).
Stream buffer means all lands laying within 50 feet, measured from the top of each normal bank of a perennial or intermittent stream.
Stream buffer means all lands lying within 110 feet, measured from the top of each normal bank, of a perennial stream or 50 feet from an intermittent stream.
Stream buffer means the area of land 75 feet on either side of all streams in [county, municipality], measured as a line extending perpendicularly from the stream bank.
