Unstructured Data definition

Unstructured Data means data that is not Structured Data. For purposes of illustration only: video, images, audio, user-generated files, application data, compliance records, litigation data, and public records data.
Unstructured Data means information that does not have a predefined data model or is not organized in a systematic manner. Unlike structured data, which is neatly organized in databases with rows and columns, unstructured data can come in various formats such as text, images, videos, emails, social media posts and more.
Unstructured Data means electronic documents vs. data stored in systems. For example, documents that are created in MS Office Tools and PDF files are considered to be unstructured documents.

  • Unstructured Data – Cool • Provides backup, recovery, tiering and archiving for Unstructured Data that requires immediate retrieval/access whenever necessary.

  • Structured Data • Provides backup, recovery, and archiving for small file-size workloads that are generally high in object count, thus requiring higher performance compute and storage compared to Unstructured Data workloads.

More Definitions of Unstructured Data

Unstructured Data means any Data that is not Structured Data. For the avoidance of doubt, Unstructured Data does not include structured application data or information tagged with reference or other similar identifying numbers such as audience data.
Unstructured Data means information that is effectively the opposite of what is defined above as Structured Data; information that is not consistently stored by predefined format, location or content, thus making it inconvenient for ready use by import into non-originating systems for purposes of searching, reporting or manipulation. Examples include email messages, videos, photos, presentations, web pages and other types of documents. Note that each of these examples have internal organization in place; however their form does not facilitate ready import and use by other systems.
