Common use of Advanced Grievance Step Filing Clause in Contracts

Advanced Grievance Step Filing. Certain issues which by nature are not capable of being settled at a preliminary step of the grievance procedure, or which would become moot due to the time necessary to exhaust grievance steps may, by mutual agreement, be filed at the appropriate advance step. Grievances concerning dismissals, demotions, or suspensions greater than five days of regular employees will be initiated by the Union at Step 3 of the grievance procedures set forth in this Article by filing directly with the Department Director or designee, within thirty (30) calendar days from the date the employee receives notice of the action taken. The same time limits for processing a grievance apply.
