Alternative Work Assignments. 36 To maximize the District’s options for meeting the educational, social, and emotional needs of 37 students in the unusual circumstances of the 2020-21 school year, the Association and the 38 District agree to the following limited opportunity for temporary reassignment of employees: 39 a. If it becomes necessary to implement significant changes to normal working hours or 40 conditions to ensure employment options for staff. Staffing shall be done using District 41 wide job classification seniority highest to lowest, subject to qualification. 42 i. 17 2. Due to the urgency in filling these positions, The Association waives the five (5) day minimum 18 posting per Section 10.6 of the CBA. SPED paraeducator positions vacant as of the date of the bid
21 3. The District will determine the positions available for bidding, and a date and start time for the 22 bidding process. Bidding will be conducted via Zoom video conferencing and/or phone. The 24 and will provide a primary and secondary phone number that can be used for calling in to bid.
26 a. Bidding will occur on a date determined by the District beginning at 9:00 am.
28 4. A listing of available positions will be provided to displaced staff two (2) days before the date of 29 the bid via their District email address. The listing will include the requirements of the position, 30 type of program, work hours, and location.
32 5. Bid Procedures:
33 a. Starting with the most senior displaced SPED paraeducator, then descending in order of 34 seniority, bid times will be scheduled in fifteen (15) minute increments.
36 b. During their bid time, the SPED paraeducator will verbally select a position for which they 37 are qualified for. They will then provide written confirmation of their bid selection to the 38 Employee Services department through their district email. 39
40 c. If a SPED paraeducator does not join the Zoom video conference invite or call in via the 41 primary or secondary phone number during their bid time, at the end of their bid time their 42 name will be dropped to the bottom of the seniority bid day list.
44 6. An eligible SPED paraeducator who is on a medical leave of absence approved by Employee 45 Services on the day of the bid will be allowed to bid only if the duration of the leave is scheduled 46 (as approved) to end sixty (60) days or less from the date of the bid. If the leave is scheduled to end 47 more than ninety (90) days from the date of the bid, or if the leave is of an unknown duration, the 48 employee will bid last. If an eligible SPED paraeducator does not select a position, or if there are no position for which 3 they meet the qualifications for, the employee will be allowed to either apply for any open position 4 for which he or she is qualified or to be placed on the substitute list.
