Bargaining Unit Substitutes Clause Samples

The "Bargaining Unit Substitutes" clause defines the rules and procedures for employing substitute workers within a bargaining unit, typically in unionized workplaces. It outlines when and how substitutes may be used to temporarily fill positions of regular employees who are absent due to leave, illness, or other reasons. For example, the clause may specify the qualifications required for substitutes, their pay rates, and the duration of their assignments. Its core function is to ensure that temporary staffing needs are met without undermining the rights and conditions of regular bargaining unit members, thereby maintaining operational continuity while protecting union standards.
