Benefits for Part. Time Employees‌ (a) Part-time employees who regularly work 20 hours per week or more and have completed their probationary period, shall be entitled to participate in the Health and Welfare program as follows: (1) A regular part-time employee who is appointed to a regularly scheduled position of 20 hours per week or more, shall be entitled to all benefits contained in Article 25 - Health and Welfare. (2) A part-time employee who is filling a temporary vacancy, shall be eligible to participate in the Health and Welfare program on the following basis: (i) An employee who is the successful candidate for a temporary vacancy of three months or longer duration, shall be eligible from the first day of the assignment; (ii) An employee who is placed in a temporary vacancy of undetermined length, shall be eligible once they have worked in the vacant position for three months; (iii) Benefits shall continue for the duration of the assignment; (iv) At the termination of the assignment in (a) or (b) above, the employee shall have the option of continuing their benefit coverage for a maximum of three months, by pre-paying the full cost of the monthly premiums; (v) Benefits in this section will include: Basic Medical Insurance, Extended Health Plan, Dental Plan, and Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Plan.

Employee must make decision to participate by September 1 of each school year unless he/she is a newly hired employee. Part-time certificated staff with a .5 FTE or more are eligible to receive one-half sick leave benefits provided to full-time employees, accumulative to 45 days. Part-time certificated staff with a .5 FTE or more are eligible to receive one-half personal leave benefits provided to full-time employees.
