BEREAVEMENT ALLOWANCE. 23.1 Any employee will be allowed six (6) working days off with pay for the death of an employee's: Mother Father Spouse Common-law Spouse Same Sex Partner Sister Brother Stepmother Stepfather Child Step Child Step Sister Step Brother 23.1.1 If funeral services are scheduled at a later date, such entitlement shall not be consecutive, upon mutual agreement of both Parties. Certification of relationship and death will be presented, on request, to the appropriate Department Head. 23.2 Any employee will be allowed three (3) working days off with pay for the death of an employee's: Mother-in-law Step Mother-in-law Father-in-law Step Father-in-law Grandmother Grandfather Grandchild Step Grandchild 23.2.1 If funeral services are scheduled at a later date, such entitlement shall not be consecutive, upon mutual agreement by both Parties. Certification of relationship and death will be presented on request to the appropriate Department Head. 23.3 One (1) day off with pay will be allowed for any employee attending the funeral of their spouse's immediate family. "Immediate Family" will mean: Sister Brother Grandmother Grandfather 23.3.1 One (1) day off with pay will be allowed for any employee attending the funeral of his or her brother-in-law or sister-in-law. 23.3.2 Evidence of relationship and death will be submitted as noted above. 23.4 The Parties agree that the President of the Local, or the President's appointee, will be allowed one (1) day off with pay to attend the funeral of Bargaining Unit employees. 23.5 Where the burial is at a distant point, the leave may also include a maximum of two (2) days’ travelling time, if warranted, at the discretion of the Department Head.
