Coarse Aggregate Clause Samples
Coarse Aggregate. Coarse Aggregate for concrete blocks shall be good, hard, clean aggregate from approved quarries. It shall be free from all decomposed materials and shall be graded up to 10 mm and all as described for coarse aggregate in Concrete Work.
Coarse Aggregate. Coarse aggregate shall be washed, hard, tough and durable screened gravel or crushed stone conforming to the ASTM Standard Specifications for Concrete Aggregates, Designation C33 and the additional requirements specified herein. Coarse aggregate shall have not more than five percent by weight of deleterious substances and soft fragments. Unless otherwise approved, aggregate shall be well graded and shall conform to the grading requirements for coarse aggregates for nominal size 1 inch to No.
Coarse Aggregate. Coarse aggregate shall consist of crushed or broken stone and be hard, strong, dense, durable, clean and of proper gradation and free from skin and coating likely to prevent proper adhesion of mortar. The aggregate shall generally be cubical in shape and as far as possible flaky, elongated pieces shall be avoided. It shall generally comply with the provisions of I.S. 383‑1970 and I.S. 515‑1959. Stone shall have no deleterious reaction with cement. The coarse aggregate shall be of the following sizes: Normal cement concrete of 100mm and above thickness ‑ graded 20mm and below Cement concrete topping thickness 40mm and above ‑ graded from 12mm and below Mass cement concrete of 500mm and above ‑ graded 38mm and below Grading tests shall be taken in the beginning and at change of source or material. Where required, by the Engineer, tests indicated in I.S. 383‑ 1970 and I.S. 456‑1978 shall be carried out in an approved laboratory at the Contractor's cost to show the acceptability of the material. Coarse aggregate of a porous nature where absorption of water after 24 hours immersion in water, is more than 5 percent by weight, shall not be used.
Coarse Aggregate a. Coarse aggregate for concrete, except as noted above, shall conform to I.S. 383. This shall consist of crushed stone and shall be clean. and free from elongated, flaky or laminated pieces, adhering coatings, clay lumps, coal residue, clinkers, slag, alkali, mica, organic matter or other deleterious matter.
Coarse Aggregate. Unless, otherwise specified or ordered, only ¾” (20 mm) nominal size crushed aggregate shall be used as coarse aggregate for concreting purpose in slabs, beams, columns, in superstructure and foundations as per IS: 383 – 19
Coarse Aggregate. The coarse aggregate for concrete shall be natural gravel or crushed stone. It shall consist of hard, dense, durable uncoated rock fragments and shall meet the requirements of B.S. 882. Coarse aggregate for reinforced concrete shall be either graded aggregate or made up of a number of single size aggregates, with the largest particles not exceeding the following sizes:
(a) 40mm, or
(b) 1/3 of the smallest thickness of concrete members, or
(c) 3/4 of the smallest space between reinforcement bars, whichever is the smallest. Coarse aggregate for non-reinforced concrete may contain particles up to 3”
Coarse Aggregate. Coarse aggregate shall consist of sound, tough, durable particles, free from adherent films of matter that would prevent thorough coating with the bituminous material. The percentage of wear shall not be greater than 40 percent when tested in accordance with ASTM C131. The sodium sulfate soundness loss shall not exceed 9 percent, after five cycles, when tested in accordance with ASTM C88.
Coarse Aggregate. The required grading shall be obtained by using 100 percent 3/8” coarse aggregate.
Coarse Aggregate. (a) The maximum nominal size of coarse aggregate shall be sized to suit the Contractor‟s mix design. Gradation shall be in accordance with CAN/CSA A23.1, Table 11, Group
1. The coarse aggregate shall satisfy the Standard Requirements specified in CAN/CSA A23.1, Table 12, “Concrete Exposed to Freezing and Thawing”.
(b) Coarse aggregate shall consist of crushed stone or gravel or a combination thereof, having hard, strong, durable particles free from elongation, dust, shale, earth, vegetable matter or other injurious substances. Coarse aggregate shall be clean and free from alkali, organic or other deleterious matter; and shall have an absorption not exceeding 2.25 percent.
(c) The aggregate retained on the 5 millimetres sieve shall consist of clean, hard, tough, durable, angular particles with a rough surface texture, and shall be free from organic material, adherent coatings of ▇▇▇▇, ▇▇▇▇ balls, and excess of thin particles or any other extraneous material.
(d) Coarse aggregate when tested for abrasion in accordance with ASTM C131 shall not have a loss greater than thirty (30) percent.
(e) Tests of the coarse aggregate shall not exceed the limits for standard for requirements prescribed in CAN/CSA A23.1, Table 12, for concrete exposed to freezing and thawing.
Coarse Aggregate. Do not increase the cement concrete to obtain high early strength.
