Video or audio instruction in which the primary mode of communication between the student and certificated employee is online interaction, instructional television, video, telecourses, or other instruction that relies on computer or communications technology. In each case, synchronous instruction is the preferred method given the positive impact it has on student learning (following maximum screen time guidelines as detailed on the instructional schedules.) The Distance Learning Model may only be provided as a result of an order or guidance from a state or local public health officer or for students who are medically fragile or would be put at risk by in-person instruction, or who are self-quarantining because of exposure to COVID-19.
