Common use of Division Manager Clause in Contracts

Division Manager. If the grievance has not been resolved at Step 1, the grievance may be filed with the Division Manager or his/her representative within ten (10) calendar days, not including Saturdays, Sundays, or holidays, after the response is received or was due from the supervisor. The grievance shall be in writing, shall state the nature of the grievance, the Article of the contract allegedly violated, and the remedy being sought. The Division Manager or his/her representative shall contact the Human Resources Office and the grievant shall contact his/her labor representative and provide them with a copy of the grievance form. The Human Resources Office and the Union will work together to arrange a meeting within thirty (30) calendar days of receipt of the grievance by the Division Manager, at which meeting the parties shall attempt to resolve the matter. This period may be extended for a reasonable period as needed by the Employer to conduct an investigation of the issue or issues raised by the grievance, or as needed to investigate additional issues raised at any other step in the grievance procedure. The Employer will notify the Union in writing of its use of any such extension period. The period of investigation will not be extended beyond an additional forty- five (45) days without mutual consent.
