It is expected that all staff take pride in their appearance and will dress tidily and practically in a manner that is appropriate to provide care for our elderly residents. Personal grooming similarly should be appropriate. It is important to consider Workplace Health & Safety with respect to dress with the aim of avoiding any potential risk of injury to either the staff member or resident. To this end clothing should allow unrestricted body movement while not being so loose that it may catch on obstacles. Examples of acceptable dress include: • Skirt & blouse; • Collared shirt; • Trousers; • Culottes; • Uniform type dress; • Slacks; • Dress shorts; • Polo type shirt with collar; Examples of unacceptable dress include: • Clothes which may be considered provocative • Jeans • T-shirts • Thongs • Excessive jewellery • Only a wedding band may be worn to ensure that skin tears do not occur with our Residents. Earrings should be sleepers or small studs only. To prevent injury to maintenance workers wedding bands are not be worn when operating machinery. • Workers with collar length or longer hair must ensure it is secured neatly in place with a suitable fastening. • Fingernails are to be a sensible length for carrying out nursing and other duties. • Identification badges must be worn at all times whilst on duty. Duties and skills. (1) Management skills and ability to undertake the allocation and monitoring of resources, the review of operations to determine their effectiveness and contribute to the development of policy initiatives or corporate strategies are usually required at this level.
(2) Well developed liaison and communication skills and the ability to negotiate or communicate, under limited direction, on behalf of the agency with clients or interested parties may be needed.
(3) Work at this level requires a knowledge and awareness of operations as related to Government initiatives or policies.

An employee at this level will be required to undertake a range of complex tasks and functions in this specialised field and may also be required to monitor, train and develop Biomedical Technicians and less experienced Engineers. Management of Biomedical Technicians and Assistants may form part of this role.

Positions at this level may involve an employee in a range of activities including the performance of non-repetitive tasks governed by established procedures, specific guidelines and standardised instructions. Duties may include field support or a regulatory inspection activities and data collection and recording. Appointees to this level undertake a range of functions requiring the practical application of acquired skills and knowledge.
