Common use of Eight Hour Shift Clause in Contracts

Eight Hour Shift. The regular working day shall be eight (8) hours per day, forty (40) hours per week; all work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and/or forty (40) hours per week shall be paid for at the overtime rate. Five (5) consecutive days work followed by two (2) consecutive days leave shall constitute a week. For each regular eight (8) hour day worked an Officer shall be credited with days leave. On eight (8) hours shift tugs Officers will be employed on a monthly pay basis except when a shortage of work necessitates a lay-off of personnel.
