EXTRA BOARD. Section 1. All bus operators will be guaranteed forty (40) hours on a five (5) day week basis if available for work all five (5) days.
A. Eight (8) hours per day will be deducted from the guarantee for every day the extra bus operator fails to report for work for any reason. When an extra bus operator has an assignment of less than eight (8) hours work when the extra board is made up, said operator must be available for a change in assignment. Failure to be available will result in loss of guarantee for that day.
B. The City reserves the right to operate the extra board, rotating the work around the extra board bus operators.
Section 2. All extra bus operators shall be required to break in on all lines.
Section 3. An extra bus operator shall not rotate until he has at least eight (8) hours of pay time.
Section 4. Hold down on vacations, military reserve or national guard duty and long- term sick for extra board operators - when on hold will be given same days off as the run calls for.
Section 5. City will post on extra board all operators not working for various causes to be listed as follows: vacation, PCH, birthday, miss out, sick, excused, medical, union, discipline and other.
Section 6. All employees are required to submit and keep current one telephone number.
Section 7. Union Executive Board may receive a copy of the daily board upon request.
Section 8. The Extra Board shall be posted by 1:00 p.m. for the following work day.
EXTRA BOARD. The Extra Board will operate on a "First Up-First Out" daily rotation. The Extra Board mark-up will be completed at 6:00 p.m. each evening for the upcoming day, with the first open run/assignment of the day assigned to the first Operator on the Extra Board, and so forth until the Board is completely assigned. If additional assignments become open after the daily Extra Board mark-up, they will be offered first to full-time operators signed up for Voluntary Call Back (VCB), and second to full-time operators on the daily over-time sign-up list. The Extra Board will be rotated daily at the mark-up (Example: Operator in position #2 on Tuesday would be rotated to position #1 on Wednesday). This rotation will not be altered by an Extra Board Operator's days off. When the Operator reports for their Extra Board assignment, they shall be given the entire run/assignment for the day at the time they report. It will be the responsibility of each Extra Board Operator to contact dispatch between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. of the evening before their workday to receive their report time. An Operator who fails to obtain their reporting time or who does not report to work at their assigned work time will be charged with a miss-out. Pass Back: The standby position shall be required to work any regular run or other piece of work that comes open within three (3) hours of the standby’s report time. Once a standby operator has been on the clock for more than three hours they may pass on work assigned by dispatch. The work will be passed back to the next available standby operator. A hold-down is a known absence from work of five consecutive work days or more. The workweek is Sunday through Saturday. Hold downs may include vacations of one week or more, absence due to sickness, industrial injury or illness, leave of absence, termination, or any other absence. Hold downs will be posted in a final version by 12 noon Monday and bid by 12 noon Friday and assigned by 2:00 p.m. Friday to the senior operator bidding in the week prior to the start of the hold down. Extra Board operators selecting a hold down will remain on the hold down for the posted duration, until the end of the sign up, until the operator returns, or until an operator bids or is assigned to the Extra Board during a sign-up period, whichever occurs first. EXTRA BOARD. The District extra board and its rules will not be used for Streetcar Department work.

EXTRA BOARD. On the “Extra Board”, seniority and other rights with respect to the cooperation of the “Extra Board” shall be governed by the existing “Work Rules” and the following provisions:
A. All Extra Board operators shall work five (5) days in each workweek. The weekly guarantee shall be reduced eight hours for each regularly scheduled work day on which the operator lays off or is absent for any reason beyond the control of the Employer. Extra Board operators, who have not made their guarantee, may be required to stand by, but will not be required to stand idly by simply for the purpose of completing their guarantee. Work performed by an operator on his/her assigned day off will not be used in computing the forty
B. Extra Board Operators will rotate Sunday through Saturday. Sunday position on the Board will be based on the previous Sunday's Board. Position Monday through Saturday shall be determined by total hours of work accumulated for the week at the close of the Board on the preceding day. Fills based on eight
C. Extra Board Operators will be assigned two (2) days off each week and will rotate on Board for day following day off. If assigned day off falls on Friday or Saturday, Extra Board employees will rotate on basis of Thursday's Board.
D. Day off assignment, at Employer discretion, will be Sunday, Saturday, weekday and rotated by seniority of last day off. Twenty-four (24) hour notice of day off assignment shall be given.
E. Extra Board operator laying off part of a day will hold spot or drop if available hours would be sufficient for drop for following day, and be charged with available hours of work during layoff period. No attempt will be made to give extra hours to compensate for time loss for any reason.
F. Extra Board operators not assigned off, or laying off, will hold themselves available until 9:00 a.m. They will not be charged for hours passed after 9:00
a. m. unless booked prior to 9:00 a.m. After 9:00 a.m. the Employer shall notify the next operator up for time, and if not available, time will not be charged to the operator and the work will be passed on to the next operator up for time. Extra Board operators shall call the office between 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. when booked to do so. Operators who have called the office by 9:30 a.m. and have not been assigned work must advise the dispatcher of their intent to work later in the day. Operators who will not be available can make no claim for work not offered.
G. Extra Board operators turning down ...
EXTRA BOARD. All extra board Operators shall be guaranteed a minimum of eight hours per day, five days per week, payable at regular pay periods, provided they were available and worked as assigned. For purposes of this Section, "Guaranteed Hours" shall mean pay time excluding there from any pay time for overtime premium, elapsed and short rest penalty which shall be paid in addition thereto. Refusal by any extra board Operator to accept an assignment with a spread exceeding 13 hours shall not affect his guarantee. Extra board Operators who work a regular assigned run or shift on a given day will be paid the scheduled time of such run or shift. All time served on pay point (report protecting the pullout board) by an Operator shall be computed as time worked and all penalties shall apply. A minimum of two work hours at straight time shall be paid to Operators for each report for assignment unless assigned to a run or pay point before a two hour period has expired from such report, in which case the operator shall be paid at straight time for the actual time elapsing between such report and assignment. The overtime premium shall not apply, but all other premiums shall apply. Upon report, each Operator shall be on point unless otherwise assigned.
EXTRA BOARD. A. Each base having Operators shall have a Day Extra Board to fill those assignments left open, to fill any special work, and to fill overtime assignments according to the overtime assignment process. In addition, bases having night work shall also have a Night Extra Board for the same purposes. Day and Night Boards shall be open for selection at the pick by all Full-Time Operators by seniority. Operators may select any available position on either Extra Board.
B. During a shake-up, any newly hired Operators shall be placed at the bottom of the Day Board. Selection of position shall be by seniority.
C. All work assigned to an Extra Board Operator as part of his/her regular workday assignment will be within a spread of thirteen (13) hours unless voluntarily waived by the Operator or in the case of an extreme emergency.
D. The Extra Boards shall be posted by 2:00 p.m. No Extra Board assignment will be final until 2:00 p.m. If the Extra Board is not posted by 4:00 p.m., each Extra Board Operator who is available the following day will receive one (1) hour of straight-time pay, except in case of extreme emergency.
E. The Extra Boards shall be assigned according to the following rules:
1. All available work will be sorted into two (2) categories as follows:
a. Category A shall include:
1) Straight-through day runs which quit at 8:00 p.m. or earlier.
2) Day reports which have a quit time of 10:00 p.m. or earlier as determined by a 13-hour spread.
3) Combos which quit at 8:00 p.m. or earlier.
4) Tripper combinations which quit at 8:00 p.m. or earlier.
5) Tripper and report combinations which have a latest quit time of 8:00 p.m. or earlier as determined by a 13-hour spread.
6) Special work which has an estimated quit time of 8:00 p.m. or earlier.
b. Category B shall include:
1) Runs which quit later than 8:00 p.m.
2) Reports which have a quit time later than 10:00 p.m., as determined by a 13-hour spread.
EXTRA BOARD. Each base shall have a Day Extra Board (Day Board) to fill open assignments, any 18 special work, and overtime assignments according to the overtime assignment process. Bases having 19 night work shall also have a Night Extra Board (Night Board) for the same purposes. Day and Night 20 Boards shall be open for selection at pick by all FTOs by seniority. FTOs may select any available 21 position on either Extra Board.
EXTRA BOARD. Is a shift bid position and may be a full-time, part-time, or an on-call position. This will be designed into the scheduled shift bid.
