Common use of Extra Work Assignments Clause in Contracts

Extra Work Assignments. When the District determines that extra work assignments that become available during the work year fall within the scope of work covered by the collective bargaining agreement between the parties, such assignments will be offered to bargaining unit members, if the work can be performed effectively outside regularly scheduled hours of work. Such assignments will be posted first for bargaining unit members and will be compensated at time and one-half (1 ½), once forty (40) hours of work have been completed in the same work week by the employee. The rate of pay for these positions will be based on the assignments classification and the starting rate for the position. If more than one bargaining unit member applies for the work, the District may choose the best qualified. Among equally qualified applicants, the seniority will control based on a rotational basis. If no bargaining unit members accepted the work, if may be given outside of the bargaining unit.
