Filling of Positions. The parties agree that all appointments to vacancies covered by this Agreement shall be filled by the Employer with the procedure outlined in this Article. The parties recognize that the Employer has the exclusive authority to determine if and when vacancies are to be filled and the qualifications required of those positions.
Filling of Positions. All eligible employees under Section 3 who have made a timely interest bid, and meet the minimum qualifications, shall be given consideration and may be appointed to the opening prior to the consideration of other non-interest bidding applicants and prior to filling the vacancy through other means. The Appointing Authority shall not be arbitrary, capricious, or discriminatory and must have a legitimate business reason to reject all of the interest bidders. Seniority of the interest bidders shall not be a factor in appointing employees from among the interest bidders. All interest bidders shall be notified orally or in writing, which may include electronic mailing, as to the status (either under consideration, acceptance, or rejection) of their interest bid in a timely manner. If the vacancy is not filled by an employee under this Section, then it shall be filled in the following order:
Filling of Positions. 579. The processing of personnel requisitions for nurses will be done on an expeditious basis, with a goal of two weeks from time of issuance to the time when the position is available for hire.
Filling of Positions. (a) As soon as the Corporation is aware that a position is or will become vacant and determines that it will be necessary to fill that vacancy, it shall initiate and complete the necessary steps to fill the vacancy without delay. However, the Corporation, may at any time before the position is filled, change its determination and abolish the position. (b) The Corporation agrees, when practicable taking into account its operational requirements, to create more meaningful employment by maximizing the hours of employees in an office where hours become available as a result of a vacancy. The Corporation shall determine the number of hours it requires and offer such hours to part-time employees beginning, when possible, with the employee with the greatest number of regularly scheduled hours per week. (c) Vacant positions shall be filled in the following order of priority: (i) in accordance with Article 13; employees who are on the recall list or special list; (ii) in accordance with Article 13; employees who are on the surplus list; (iii) in accordance with Article 12; (iv) in accordance with this Article. (d) The Corporation will advise the appropriate Branch President in writing of any circumstances which may prevent the filling of any vacancy within six (6) months of the vacancy arising.
Filling of Positions. A. PERMANENT POSITIONS 1. A permanent position is a position expected to last for more than three (3) months, except a permanent position shall not be created for pregnancy leave, medical leave, or other approved leave. A permanent position may be either full-time or part-time. When the Company determines that there should be a new permanent position or that a vacated permanent position should be filled it will announce such position for bid. The announcement shall state the domicile, number of positions available, their effective date and be posted via CrewTrac message to all Flight Attendants and in each domicile crew lounge for a period of no fewer than seven (7) calendar days. 2. Flight Attendants shall be allowed to submit a permanent bid and shall have the right to change their permanent bid any time prior to the vacancy bid closing. The Company shall establish guidelines under which bid forms are to be completed. An On-line permanent bid form will be made available to the Flight Attendants. The on-line form may be submitted at any time and will remain on file with the Company until it is requested to be removed or changed by the Flight Attendant. 3. When a part-time Flight Attendant position is available, full-time Flight Attendants shall be provided the opportunity to transfer to such positions in system seniority order prior to the Company hiring an external applicant. When a full-time Flight Attendant position becomes available, part-time Flight Attendants shall be permitted to transfer to such position in system seniority order prior to the hiring of an external applicant. 4. The Company will award permanent positions from the Permanent bid file, in system seniority order. If there are insufficient bidders, the Company may assign positions in reverse seniority order or assign them to newly hired Flight Attendants. Awards/assignments shall usually be posted in two (2) business days, but no later than five
Filling of Positions. Par. 1. It is understood and agreed that in filling vacancies that are not filled by promotion within the Department, preference will be given to employees or laid off employees of the Maintenance or Stores Department. Such vacancies will be posted on all department bulletin boards for five (5) days. If unable to fill the vacancy, it may be filled according to seniority within the District.
Filling of Positions. In filling the positions covered by this Agreement, presently employed nurses shall be given first consideration on the basis of length of service as a registered nurse, provided that the skill, ability, experience, competence and qualifications of the applicants are not overriding factors. Subject to the foregoing proviso, if two individuals have identical seniority, the tie will be broken based on total bargaining unit life hours. The Employer shall make every effort to facilitate the movement of nurses to their desired shifts. In no event shall a nurse be held back from transfer to a new position for more than ninety (90) days, unless an extension is made by mutual agreement with the nurse involved. The Employer, following a decision to fill a position covered by this Agreement, will provide a written or electronic response to each applicant for the position.

Filling of Positions. Section 12.1. Whenever the Employer determines a job vacancy exists in any bargaining unit position which it desires to fill, a notice of such opening, stating the job classification, job description, qualifications, and rate of pay, shall be posted on the bulletin board for seven (7) calendar days. During this period anyone wishing to apply for the open position shall submit a written application to the Warden. The Warden shall not be obligated to consider any applications submitted after the posting period. Section 12.2. A vacancy is defined as a job opening as a result of a promotion, transfer, resignation, discharge, termination of employment, a newly-created position, or an increase in the number of jobs available in an existing classification. Whenever the Employer determines it necessary to fill such vacancies, the vacancy shall be posted in accordance with this Article. Notwithstanding the above, jobs may be filled on a temporary basis, without posting, for up to eight (8) weeks. Section 12.3. All timely-filed applications shall be reviewed and positions other than promotions shall be awarded to the most qualified applicant, with first consideration given to qualified in-house applicants. If two (2) or more applicants have equal qualifications, the position shall be awarded to the employee applicant with the greatest seniority. The Employer maintains the right to determine who is best qualified and whether any applicant meets minimum qualifications. Section 12.4. The probationary period for a newly-hired employee shall begin on the first day for which the employee receives compensation from the Jail and shall continue for a period of one year. The probationary period for a newly-promoted employee shall be one hundred eighty Section 12.5. If a current employee is promoted by the Employer to a higher classification, his new pay rate will become effective immediately upon assignment to the classification. The position should be awarded within a reasonable time after the end of the posting period. Section 12.6. All non-probationary bargaining unit members shall be offered the opportunity to compete for any open promotional position. An open promotional position shall be filled with a current bargaining unit member unless no current bargaining unit member elects to participate in the process or no current bargaining unit member scores at least seventy percent (70%) in the examination process. Filling of Positions. Section 1. Positions may be filled by lateral transfer within the individual Agency programs prior to considering outside applicants. All subsequent vacancies shall be posted on designated bulletin board(s) for a minimum of seven (7) days. Postings shall include the work program or unit, shift, days off and qualifications for the job. All interested applicants shall apply at the locations specified. In cases where applicant's experience and qualifications are substantially equal, the principle of seniority shall be the deciding factor.
