Geotechnical Investigations. The ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ Group (▇▇▇▇▇▇▇) will drill and observe ten air‐track borings to depths of approximately 15 feet below ground surface along the sewer alignments for ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, Stonehaven, TriPeaks, Forum, and Desert Skies alignments.  ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ will prepare traffic control plans for City approval and will provide traffic control during boring activities, and will clear drilling locations for underground utilities using a utility locator.  ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ will prepare a technical memorandum to summarize the subsurface conditions, where explored, and provide geotechnical recommendations.
Geotechnical Investigations. We have added Yeh & Associates to our team to provide a program of data review, field exploration, laboratory testing, and engineering analysis necessary to support the design of the project. They will document the findings from the geotechnical investigations in a design geotechnical report. Geotechnical consultation will be provided through the preliminary design and bidding phases, as needed. A copy of ▇▇▇’s proposal is included as an attachment to this Proposal.
Geotechnical Investigations. 1. Drill twenty-four borings (24) throughout the project area. Each boring will be drilled to rock or maximum depth of 15-feet, whichever occurs first. For the purpose of this fee determination a depth of 12-feet is assumed. Rock coring is not included. All borings will be drilled in pavement areas accessible to the drill rig. Work will be coordinated with City Inspector. 2. Soil sampling will be performed using split-spoon techniques at 2.5-foot intervals to 10-feet followed by 5-foot intervals thereafter. 3. Each boring will be backfilled with tamped dry concrete mix and capped with a thickness of quickset cement equivalent to the thickness of the pavement section. Auger cuttings will be removed from the site and disposed of properly. 4. Laboratory testing will include determination of moisture content and Atterberg limits. 5. A report will be prepared that includes results of the borings and laboratory tests and recommendations for site grading, excavations, and preparation of pavement subgrades. Locations of the borings and areas of existing pavement distress will be indicated in the report. 6. Traffic control shall conform with Overland Park Traffic Control Handbook. Traffic control for the field work will consist of signage and cones. Use of flaggers is not planned.
Geotechnical Investigations. The Contractor performs his own geotechnical site investigations he considers necessary to assist in the design of his works. The Contractor identifies and specifies all work and tests to be done. Geotechnical information provided to the Contractor during the tender phase is only for tender purposes and the Contractor is required to verify all geotechnical investigations to be conducted and condition during the execution of the project. The Contractor accepts full responsibility for all ground conditions and provides adequate foundation design.
Geotechnical Investigations. Engineer and its geotechnical drilling sub-consultant will perform a geotechnical investigation along the proposed alignment to observe subsurface conditions and support the design of the new gravity sewer. Engineer assumes the entire alignment will be constructed by open-cut, with the exception of the US-70 road crossing. All borings are assumed to be performed in unpaved areas. The scope of the subsurface investigation will consist of the following:  Perform Standard Penetration Test (SPT) borings at approximately 500-foot-intervals along the alignment. Up to 16 borings will be drilled. In general, drill depths will extend to 2 feet below the proposed pipe invert.  Observe and log soil and groundwater conditions in all borings. SPT split-spoon sampling will be performed in general accordance with ASTM D1586 and soil samples will be given a USCS classification. Where refusal is encountered above the planned depth of boring, rock coring will be performed to at least a depth of 2 feet below the proposed pipe invert. For trenchless borings (US-70), rock coring will be performed to extend borings to the shaft bottom.  Borings where the pipe is proposed to be installed via open-cut will be backfilled with cuttings. Borings at the proposed trenchless crossing will be backfilled with grout.  Conduct laboratory testing on selected soil samples to confirm soil classification, estimate engineering properties, and determine suitability for re-use as backfill materials. Upon completion of the geotechnical investigation, Engineer will prepare a geotechnical data report summarizing the subsurface conditions observed in the borings and containing all data (boring logs, laboratory testing, etc.) collected during the investigation. Horizontal location of the test hole shall be located using GPS services.
Geotechnical Investigations. CONSULTANT will provide geotechnical services for the project as follows.
Geotechnical Investigations. The proposed project is to remove the existing single-lane bridge crossing of ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ Creek and replace it with a new bridge structure. The existing railroad flatcar bridge is 120-feet long and 13-feet wide. According to Caltrans bridge inspection reports, the existing foundations are spread footings at the abutments and steel H-piles at the piers and the structure is considered scour critical. Geologic mapping shows the site at the contact between Jurassic-Cretaceous Fransican Formation and Plio-Pleistocene Non-Marine sediments. The alluvial sediments are typically not associated with Naturally Occurring Asbestos (NOA) but this will be evaluated during the ISA. Bedrock is not exposed in the channel and bedrock may be deep below ground surface based on the surrounding terrain and geologic mapping. Bridge structure type has been tentatively defined in the RFP. It is indicated to be a reinforced concrete slab bridge in the range of 150±ft long and 22±ft wide supported on reinforced concrete wall-abutments. Suggested foundation types in the RFP include driven piles to 50-ft depths. CIDH piles may also be a feasible alternative for this site. Abutment locations and depth of pile caps will be established, in part, on the basis of projected channel grade and bank slope configuration/stability. It is assumed that abutments will be located at equal distances from the thread of the channel. Bridge line and grade are expected to generally match existing roadway. The existing roadway approaches appear to be on native ground (terrace materials) and it is understood that the roadway will be widened to accommodate wider travel lanes and shoulders.
Geotechnical Investigations a. Draft Geotechnical Report i. Consultant will review the Design Builders draft for Geotechnical Report and submit comments to the City. b. Draft Geotechnical Report Review Meeting i. Consultant will attend via teleconference one or more meetings totaling eight (8) hours in the aggregate with the City and Design-Builder to discuss the Design- Builder’s draft reference document report ii. Consultant will review meeting minutes and submit comments.
Geotechnical Investigations. Consultant shall review previously completed relevant geotechnical reports and recommend additional investigations, if needed. Consultant shall prepare a Geotechnical Investigations Work Plan, which will describe the goals of the investigations needed, the exploration locations and depths, the access and drilling methods, and the instrumentation and in-situ testing methods (if needed). The investigation will be designed to provide adequate data for the engineering analyses, the development of the Geotechnical Data Report and the Basis of Design Report. 2.3.1 Conduct Geotechnical/Subsurface Investigations as needed for the detailed design and identified in the Geotechnical Investigations Work Plan. Consultant is responsible for the proper disposal of spoils generated from the investigations activities and to provide documentation of such disposal actions to District. Consultant shall provide for storage through the duration of this Agreement. 2.3.2 Additional Geotechnical Investigations may be approved by the District with justification, to fill in data gaps identified as the detailed design progresses.
