Half. time employees in this Unit eligible for membership in LACERS shall, upon written request to the appointing authority, be certified as LACERS members upon appointment, or anytime thereafter. This provision shall apply to half-time employees hired in accordance with Civil Service provisions of the Charter and to exempt employees appointed to regular and continuous half-time schedules. Halftime employees who are exempt from Civil Service shall be certified following two years of continuous half-time service of at least 1000 compensated hours during each of the two years.
