Hours of Work Shift Schedules and Rest Periods. 5.01 Work Schedule and Departmental Shift Change The Chief of Police has implemented a 3/12 work schedule for the patrol division. The Chief of Police will designate the schedule that FTO's and their trainees will work. The Association agrees that if an SRO position is developed, the working schedule for that officer will be on the 5/8 plan with holidays off. The Chief of Police or the Chief's designated representative shall prepare a schedule showing the hours each Member is to work. Except under unforeseeable circumstances, the Chief of Police shall make every reasonable effort to assure that no Member shall have more than one shift change in any calendar month. Whenever shift changes are required, it shall not result in a reduction in salary where overtime is actually worked. The normal working hours for each detective sergeant shall be from 0800 to 1700 with one hour for lunch. In the event a detective sergeant is called to duty during his/her lunch hour, it shall be that Member's option to leave work one hour early unless the Member's supervisor determines that it is necessary for the operations of the department for the employee to continue to work in which event the Member's shall receive overtime pay for the lost lunch period. Staggered lunches will not be required. The Lieutenant position shall be exempt from this provision.
