Common use of Indefinite Leave Clause in Contracts

Indefinite Leave. 18.6.1 Definition: Indefinite leave of absence means the relinquishment of a full-time or part-time position, while retaining employment status with the Employer for up to two (2) years. 18.6.2 An employee may be granted an indefinite leave of absence without pay, without loss of seniority or benefit accumulation, limited to 90 days, when such leave is requested for good and sufficient cause. Such requests shall be in writing and subject to approval by the employer. 18.6.3 When leave is for one month or less, employees shall be entitled to earn all benefits excepting designated holidays. 18.6.4 When leave is for more than three (3) consecutive months, employees shall not be entitled to earn increment benefits, after three (3) months only. 18.6.5 An employee returning from an indefinite leave of absence without pay shall have his/her name placed on the reemployment list. 18.6.6 Employees on indefinite leave of absence shall be required to apply for extensions annually giving proof that original conditions under which leave was granted still prevail.
