Intent to Vacate Clause Samples

The Intent to Vacate clause requires a tenant to formally notify the landlord of their plan to move out of the rental property, typically within a specified notice period before the lease ends or is terminated. In practice, this means the tenant must provide written notice—often 30 or 60 days in advance—stating the exact date they intend to leave. This clause ensures both parties have adequate time to prepare for the vacancy, allowing the landlord to arrange for new tenants and the tenant to fulfill their obligations, thereby reducing misunderstandings and potential disputes over move-out procedures.
