Layoffs and Rehiring Procedure. The Employer and the Union recognize that job security should increase in proportion of length of service. Therefore, in the event of a layoff, employees shall be laid off in the reverse order of their seniority, provided that those employees retained are qualified to do the work. The parties agree the following procedure shall apply in the event of Layoffs and Recalls: i. The Employer will notify the Union of the number of employees who are to be laid off, who will then be laid off in reverse order of their seniority, in accordance with the following: ii. 1.
