MEAL BREAK AND REST PERIOD. 8.10.1 An employee shall not be required to work for more than five hours without a break for a meal. Provided that in cases where facilities are limited to the extent that meal breaks must be staggered and as a result it is not practicable for all employees to take a meal break within five hours an employee shall not be required to work for more than six hours without a meal break. 8.10.2 An employee who is directed to work through his/her normal meal break shall be paid time and a half rates for all work done during the meal time and thereafter until a meal break is allowed. 8.10.3 Notwithstanding the provisions of 8.10.2, and subject to the provisions of 8.10.1, an employee employed as a regular maintenance man shall work during meal breaks at the ordinary rates herein prescribed whenever instructed to do so for the purpose of making good of plant breakdowns or upon routine maintenance of plant which can only be done while such plant is idle. 8.10.4 There shall be allowed without deduction of pay a rest period of ten minutes during the ordinary hours of each day.
