Out of Classification Work. The Employer may require a bargaining unit employee to assume the duties of a higher job classification without an increase in pay when necessary for vacation, sick leave, or leave of absence relief or for emergency. If such relief duty is assigned an employee for a period in excess of five (5) working days, the Employer shall, starting with the sixth (6th) day of such relief, if 50% or more of the higher level duties are performed, pay the employee in an amount at least 5% higher than the employee’s normal rate of pay, such rate to be determined by the Employer in its sole discretion.
