Employees will be allowed for services performed continuously in advance of the regular working period a minimum of two hours at straight time rates -the advance period to be not more than one hour. The right of an employee to go for a meal after having performed an hour’s work after the completion of his regular shift is unquestioned. Should an employee continue to work for more than one hour without going to meal this shall not debar him from being allowed to go for a meal thereafter. Employees called or notified to return for work in other than their regular assigned hours will, on responding to calls, be advised the emergency for which called. This will not, however, prevent employees being used for other emergency work which might develop subsequent to the time called. Employees shall not be required to attend formal investigations outside their regular working hours except in extenuating circumstances and not even then if the employee has advised, in advance of such formal statement, of his/her inability to remain beyond regular working hours. Insofar as practicable helpers shall not be employed or advanced temporarily to do mechanics’ work -when mechanics are available to avoid the necessity of payment for overtime. Employees regularly assigned to work on Saturdays and Sundays or those called to take the place of such employees, will be allowed to complete the balance of the day, unless released at their own request. Those who are called will be advised as soon as possible after vacancies become known. Employees required to work during meal period shall receive pay at the rate of double time on the minute basis, but will be relieved the necessary time (without pay) to procure meal. This does not apply where employees are allowed the twenty minutes for lunch without deduction therefor.

Where no Local Agreement exists, overtime will be distributed equally amongst all employees in seniority order to those employees who have indicated their preference to be called for overtime. An employee who declines to work an overtime opportunity for valid reason, will be recorded as overtime worked and will not be subject to call until their seniority entitles them to a new opportunity.
8.05 Employees not called for overtime opportunities in the proper order in keeping with the arrangements contemplated in Article 8.04, will be paid a minimum call of two (2) hours at their regular rate of pay and be permitted to make up the lost overtime at the first opportunity.
8.06 Employees required to work on their assigned rest days shall be paid at one and one-half times the regular rate of time and one halfpay, with a minimum of eight (8) hours pay for eight (8) hours work or less, or for the regular assigned hours of the assignment. 8.09 Employees who are required to be called for duty will receive a call of two (52) working days, hours in advance of the time for which ordered. 8.5 Employees called temporary urgency outside of their regularly regular assigned hours, after having been relieved, shall will be paid a minimum of three hours pay at overtime rates for which three hours of service may be required, but for such minimum shall will not be required to perform work other than that of the emergency, and possibly another emergency which might arise subsequent to the time of the call. If, however, employees are called to commence work less than two three hours before their regular starting time, the time will be computed continuously with the regular day’s work, 's work and the time before the regular starting time shall will be paid for at the rate of time and one-half time on a minute by the minute basis. Employees, if required to work on regularly assigned rest days, except when these are being accumulated under Article shall be paid at the rate of time and one-half time on the actual minute basis, with a minimum of three hours at overtime rates for which service may be required up to three hours. Employees will not be required to suspend work in regular hours to equalize overtime. Unless otherwise mutually satisfactory arrangements exist between the employees and their supervisor, calls will be directed first to the employee assigned to the territory involved.
