OVERTIME AND HOLIDAYS. 1. For pay purposes, the twenty-four (24) hour period starts with the beginning of an Employees regular posted shift. Overtime rates will be computed on an actual minute basis adjusted to the nearest tenth of an hour, with a minimum of one hour overtime. (Example: An Employee who works 6 minutes of overtime will be paid for one hour; an Employee who works one hour and 6 minutes will be paid for 1.1 hours.)
2. Employees on an eight (8) hour day will be paid an hourly rate of time and one-half for:
a. All work performed either prior to or after regularly scheduled hours.
b. The first eight (8) hours worked on one of the two regularly scheduled days off.
3. Employees on a ten (10) hour day will be paid an hourly rate of time and one-half for:
a. All work performed either prior to or after regularly scheduled hours
b. The first ten (10) hours worked on any one of the three (3) regularly scheduled days off.

a. All hours in excess of the first eight (8) hours worked on one of the two regularly scheduled days off each work week.
b. For all time worked on the second regularly scheduled day off in a work week, if two hours or more of the first day off was also worked.
c. For all time worked in excess of twelve (12) consecutive hours, regardless of the starting time of such work.
5. Employees on a ten (10) hour day will be paid an hourly rate of double time for:
a. All hours in excess of ten (10) hours worked during the first one of the three (3) regularly scheduled days off each work week.
b. For all time worked on the second regularly scheduled day off in a work week, if two hours or more of the first day off was also worked, and for all hours worked on the third regularly scheduled work day off if any portion of the first or second day off was also worked.
c. For all time worked in excess of twelve (12) consecutive hours, regardless of the starting time of such work.
6. Any Employee recalled to work on a regularly scheduled work day or required to report to work on his regularly scheduled day off will be paid a minimum of four (4) hours pay at the applicable rate, except that an Employee called in early in conjunction with this regular shift for the purpose of traveling to another station to perform work will be paid at the applicable overtime rate for all time spent at his station in preparation for travel with a minimum of one
(1) hour.

OVERTIME AND HOLIDAYS. 5.1 An Employer may require employees to perform work in excess of their regularly assigned hours. All time worked by an employee before and after his regular shift on Monday to Friday inclusive, except as provided in Article 4 and all hours worked on Saturday and Sunday shall be paid for at the rate of double time. Double time shall continue for all hours worked until the employee has had eight (8) consecutive hours off or longer if mutually agreed to by the employer and the employee.
5.2 All time worked on the following Holidays shall be paid for at the rate of double time: NEW YEAR’S DAY, FAMILY DAY, GOOD FRIDAY, VICTORIA DAY, DOMINION DAY, CIVIC HOLIDAY (1st Monday in August), LABOUR DAY, THANKSGIVING DAY, CHRISTMAS DAY and BOXING DAY. Should any of the above holidays occur on a Saturday or Sunday, such holiday shall be observed on Monday or Tuesday following; unless changed by mutual agreement between the Employer and the Local Union Business Manager. No work shall be performed on Labour Day except to save life or property.
5.3 In Locals 700, 721, 736, 765, and 786 where an employee is continually employed for more than two (2) hours beyond the normal quitting time of his shift, and has not been notified the day previous, he shall be provided with a lunch and allowed time to consume same without loss of pay. Where an employee has been notified the day previous, no lunch will be provided but employees will be allowed time to eat without loss of pay. In Local 759 when an employee is continually employed for more than two (2) hours beyond the normal quitting time of his shift, he shall be allowed thirty (30) minutes to obtain a meal without loss of pay, provided, however that should the employer provide a meal free of charge, then a maximum of fifteen (15) minutes will be allowed to consume the same. Where possible a hot meal will be provided (TV dinners are not acceptable).
5.4 Overtime shall be assigned as impartially as possible amongst all members on the job, subject to their ability to perform the work required.
OVERTIME AND HOLIDAYS. (a) Overtime rate of time-and-one-half, computed on an accrual minute basis, adjusted to the nearest quarter of an hour with a minimum of one (1) hour overtime (minimum ½ hour in Cargo), shall be paid for all work performed either prior to or after an employee’s regular scheduled hours, and for the first four (4) hours in excess of eight (8) hours of straight time worked in any regular work day, and for the first (8) hours worked on one of the two (2) regular scheduled days off. Employees will have an option of taking overtime as compensatory time off (CTO) to a limit of forty (40) hours for full time employees and twenty (20) hours for part time employees. Time off will be given at a time mutually agreed between the Company and the employee. CTO will be credited at the applicable overtime rate. For example, an employee who works eight (8) hours at time-and-one-half will be credited for twelve (12) hours CTO. Any employee who works eight (8) hours at double-time will be credited for sixteen (16) hours CTO. An employee may choose to split overtime compensation between pay and CTO.
(b) Overtime rate of double the hourly rate shall be paid to an employee for all work in excess of (12) hours in any twenty- four (24) hour period measured from the commencement of work on the seventh (7) day worked in his work week, and after eight (8) hours on the sixth (6) day worked in his workweek. Double-time and one-half will be paid to an employee for all time worked on the following legal holidays: New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, employee’s birthday, and two (2) floating holidays. Floating holidays shall be bid at the same time as vacations are bid and may be in conjunction with a vacation selection. Once bid, a floating holiday may only be rescheduled with the approval of local management. Should any of the foregoing holidays (excluding the birthday holiday) fall on a Sunday, the day observed by the State, nation or by presidential proclamation shall be considered the holiday. The premium of double-time and one-half as aforementioned is to be paid to an employee for all time worked on the actual holiday itself where applicable. (b) Overtime rate of double the hourly rate shall be paid to an employee for all work performed in excess of twelve (12) hours in any twenty-four (24) hour period measured from the commencement of work, and for all work on the seventh (7th) day worked in his work week and after eight (8) hours on the sixth (6th) day worked in his work week, provided an employee has performed work in excess of 40 hours in a regular scheduled work week, Monday-Sunday, and premium overtime rates were paid on all other overtime hours worked. When an employee works on either a 6th or 7th day, he shall have the option to elect to receive eight (8) hours pay as CTO, provided the forty (40) hour overtime qualifier has been met. The balance of his compensation for that day he shall receive as regular wages. If an employee so elects, he must notify the Company before the end of the work week in which his 6th or 7thday off is worked. Such CTO must be applied for in accordance with the provisions of Article VI (m).

5. When any of the above-mentioned Holidays fall on Sunday, the following Monday shall be observed as the legal Holiday. If the Holiday falls on Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be observed as the legal Holiday.
