Common use of Overtime and Overtime Rates Clause in Contracts

Overtime and Overtime Rates. (a) Overtime shall be paid for all time worked in excess of the normal full- time day [seven (7) hours], or normal full-time week [thirty-five (35) hours]. Normally, overtime must be authorized by the Employer in advance. (b) Employees who work overtime shall be paid at the rate of one-and- one-half times (1 ½ x) the employee's basic rate for the first four hours of overtime in a day, and two times (2 x) the employee's basic rate thereafter.
