Common use of Overtime Definition Clause in Contracts

Overtime Definition. (Applicable to both full-time and part-time employees) Overtime shall be defined as being all hours worked in excess of the normal or standard work day, The overtime rate shall be one and one-half (1½) times the regular straight time hourly rate of pay. Employees who work overtime which results in less than eight (8) hours rest after the completion of their overtime period and the commencement of their next regular shift, may take time off to enable them to have a full eight (8) hour rest period between such overtime period and commencement of work on their regular shift. Part-time employees shall be entitled to overtime pay at the rate of time and one- half their regular straight time hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of the normal, or standard work day, or in excess of the averaging period of seventy-five (75) hours in a pay period, in accordance with Article 18.01.
