Common use of Payment of Allowances Clause in Contracts

Payment of Allowances. Allowances are paid in addition to ordinary pay and are subject to the following conditions: a) If two or more of the disability allowances in Attachment 2 Appendix 2 apply, only the higher allowance is payable. b) Where the employee is regularly in receipt of a disability allowance or tool allowance in the course of normal work, the employee will be paid that allowance during any paid sick leave, annual leave, bereavement leave or jury service. c) When an employee works overtime, allowances will be paid at the hourly equivalent of the daily amount applicable for the actual hours worked. The actual allowance payable is specified in Attachment 2 Appendix 2. The criteria used to increase allowances are also shown in Attachment 2 Appendix 2.
