PLAYGROUND RULES. The playground includes the area south of the parking lot that is enclosed by the fence behind and beside the elementary building. Students are supervised by faculty members while on the playground. Activities such as piggyback rides, wrestling, pushing, kicking, and violent themed games are not permitted. Students in grades 1-8 are not allowed in the fenced PS/PK play area. In general, recess is always outdoors except when the temperature is zero, there is a wind chill factor of zero or the playground or field is icy. A physician’s note is required to excuse a student from participating in outdoor recess. The large playground structure is for grades K–8 No climbing on the outside of the structure No child leaves the playground without informing a Monitor Walk on the wood chips – Run on the grass No tag or chasing on the wood chips or on the structure No throwing wood chips – No wood chips on the play structure If a suspicious object is found on the playground report it to a Monitor (do not touch) No walking up the slide No jumping off the slide No hiding in the tunnel slide Only one child per swing Maximum three children on the tire swing Feet stay inside the tire swing Snow pants, coats, boots, hats, gloves or mittens are worn during winter months No throwing snowballs No piling snow on the slide

PLAYGROUND RULES. Children will be supervised during outside time. Children will stay within the boundaries of the playground during outside time. All nature walks or use of the larger property will occur under a teacher’s supervision. We have a zero tolerance policy for any violent gun or action play at any given time during school hours and on school property. The child will be given reminders and redirection and the client will be notified. However, if this behavior persists despite continued reminders, this contract will be terminated. The playground is closed to all children and is only open during teacher- supervised time as per our daily schedule. This is a private property and is not open on the weekends. Once your child is released for the day, please do not remain on the property.

PLAYGROUND RULES. Each child is to show the greatest respect for all students at all times. • During recess times, the building may be entered only in emergencies. • Bicycles may be brought to school, but must be walked on the playground. • Fighting, rough-play, and violent games will not be tolerated. • Vulgar, crude, and disrespectful language will not be tolerated. • Each level is assigned a specific play area to be used during recess times. • All steps and door areas, as well as railings, are to be kept clear at all times. • No food of any kind may be eaten on the playground. • Snowball throwing is forbidden on the school grounds, as well as on the way to and from school. • Throwing, kicking, or handling of snow or snowballs is forbidden. • Playing on the snow piles on the premises is prohibited except when supervised and when classes are scheduled for that area. A child must have boots, snowpants and gloves in order to play in the snow during recess. • In grades K4–5, boots are to be worn in snowy, slippery, cold and wet weather for safety. Students without boots will be asked to stand against the building for the entire recess.

PLAYGROUND RULES. During outdoor play during the school day or after school: • Students are to obey the directives of the person in charge of the play area. • Students are to remain in the designated play area. • Tackle football is not permitted. • Dangerous activities such as skateboarding, piggy back riding or roller blading are not permitted. • No food is to be eaten outdoors during supervised play. • Misuse or destruction of playground equipment will not be tolerated; the student will be required to pay the school for the damage done. All new students in grades 1-8 are on probation during the first semester of school. During that time the students must prove themselves ready to meet the standards of Guardian Catholic School’s curriculum by maintaining passing grades and by exhibiting good conduct. If a student’s academic performance or behavior is questionable, students will either be given an extension of time or be asked to leave. When it is necessary to withdraw a child from Guardian Catholic School, written notification should be presented in the school office as soon as possible so that all reports and fees can be processed. School records will be submitted to the forwarding school when all fees have been paid in full. Mid-quarter progress reports will be sent home for all students. Report cards are issued quarterly. The grading scale is as follows: S Student is proficient in meeting grade-level skills N Student shows a developing understanding of skills; assistance is required U Student shows little understanding of the skills; cannot complete tasks independently. A 90%-100% B 80%-89% C 70%-79% D 60%-69% F 0%-59% S Satisfactory U Unsatisfactory First Honors (A Honor Roll) are given to students in grades 3-8 who have straight A’s in the major subject areas and conduct. Second Honors (A-B Honor Roll) are given to students in grades 3-8 who have A’s and/or B’s in the major subject areas and in conduct. Major subject areas are Religion, Science, Math, Social Studies, Reading, and English. Parents are asked to examine the report card carefully and make arrangements to meet with the teacher if necessary. When report cards are sent home at the end of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters, parents are asked to sign the report card envelope and return it to school the following day. This signature verifies that the parent received the report card.
