Preceptor Differential. A preceptor is a nurse who is designated by their 4 nurse manager to: assess the learning needs of (a) an inexperienced, re-entry, or 5 new to specialty nurse or (b) a capstone, immersion, practicum or student of similar 6 level; plan that person’s learning program; provide direct guidance to that person’s 7 learning program or implement such program; provide direct guidance and 8 supervision to that person during the program; and, in conjunction with the nurse 9 manager and/or designee, evaluate that person’s progress during the program.
