Common use of Preferential Seniority Clause in Contracts

Preferential Seniority. (a) The Plant Chairperson, Plant Secretary and Chief ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ shall have Company wide seniority in case of layoffs provided they are willing and able to perform the work available. (b) Stewards will have top seniority in the departments in which they are employed in case of lay-offs provided they are willing and able to perform the work available.

Preferential Seniority. (a) The Local Union Plant Chairperson, Plant Secretary and Union Chief ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ shall have Company top plant-wide seniority in case of layoffs provided lay-off and shall be retained by the Company on work they are willing and able to perform the work availableperform. (b) Stewards will have top Chairperson and Chief ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ who are retained in employment due to the provisions of (a) above shall only be entitled to job preference based on their natural seniority in the departments in which they are employed in case of lay-offs provided they are willing and able to perform the work availablerating.
