Professional Development & Course Reimbursement. The School Board and the WRTA are committed to the importance of Professional Development as an ongoing means of creating and maintaining Highly Qualified Teachers. All Professional Development courses/workshops/conferences submitted for Professional Development leave, Prepayment, or Reimbursement must be approved by the Superintendent and must be related to either an approved or pending Individual Professional Learning Plan (IPLP). Graduate Courses will be taken in the Teacher’s certified area before courses will be approved in another certified area. A minimum of eight (8) graduate courses will be taken in the Teacher’s certified area before approval will be given for courses in another certified area at the sole discretion of the Superintendent of Schools and upon a recommendation from the Building Principal. If a sequence of courses needs to be followed, a Teacher may petition the Superintendent for an exemption. In order to meet district initiatives, the Superintendent, in consultation with the Building Principal, or Assistant Superintendent may approve coursework or workshops not related to the teacher’s IPLP.
