Professional Development Leave/Course Management. (a) A regular full‐time appointment Instructor will be entitled to twenty‐two (22) days Course Management or Professional Development Leave. (b) Professional Development leave must be scheduled annually in the employee’s instructional plan in appropriate increments that are not normally less than three (3) hours, with full pay for the following purposes: (1) coursemanagement; (2) on campus seminars or courses; (3) conferences or conventions related to the employee's field or specialization; (4) visiting business and/or industrial establishments to keep abreast of technological changes; (5) for research or development designed to enhance the professional or educational status of the College and the individual. The time for these activities will be mutually agreed to by the instructor and the appropriate administrator. The leave contained in this article will be prorated for regular part‐time and non‐regular instructors. (c) Applications for such leave shall be in writing to the Professional Development Committee with a copy to the appropriate administrator. This Committee will be comprised of three (3) members representative of the Union and three (3) members representative of the College. A majority decision of the Committee shall be binding. The Committee will direct the College in the allocation of professional development funds. (d) The employee shall file with the Committee a comprehensive written report of the substance studied during the leave.
