Common use of Qualifying Service Clause in Contracts

Qualifying Service. (a) Paid parental leave will count as qualifying service for all purposes under this Agreement. (b) Qualifying service for any purpose under this Agreement is to be calculated according to the number of weeks of paid parental leave that were taken at full pay or would have been had the employee not taken paid parental leave at half pay. Employees who take paid parental leave on half pay do not accrue Agreement entitlements beyond those that would have accrued had they taken the leave at full pay.
