RECOGNITION AND SECURITY. The employer signatory hereto hereby voluntarily recognizes the union who is signatory hereto as the sole and exclusive bargaining representative per Section 9(a) of the National Labor Relations Act, as amended, for all purposes even as if the Union had been certified by the National Labor Relations Board as the exclusive bargaining representative pursuant to a representation election conducted among employees in the bargaining unit, as that unit is defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement, of all the employees of the employer who perform work that is covered by this agreement and who are members of the union on the effective date of this agreement and they shall be required to remain members of the union as a condition of employment during the term of this agreement. New employees who perform work that is covered by this agreement shall be required to become and remain members of the union as a condition of employment for and after the seventh day following the dates of their employment or the effective date of this agreement whichever is later. The employer shall discharge any employee who fails to maintain his membership in the union as required by this article.
