A Reimbursement Program clause establishes the terms under which one party will repay another for specific expenses incurred. Reimbursement Program. Each full-time non-probationary employee who is subject to the provisions of this Agreement shall be eligible for a reimbursement of tuition only in courses of instruction voluntarily undertaken and subject to the following conditions:
A. Only courses that are part of a post-secondary degree directly related to the employee's current employment position are eligible for reimbursement hereunder. To claim reimbursement the employee must complete an application on a form provide by the City and receive approval from the City Manager for the course of study in advance. Each class taken must also be approved in advance. All courses must be taken during non- work hours.
B. The Employer shall not reimburse fees for any course for which the employee received a scholarship, grant or subsidy to the extent of such aid.
C. All courses must be taken at an accredited college or university pursuant to and part of an established program leading to either an Associate's or a Bachelor's degree.
D. For classes taken in pursuit of an Associate's degree, the Employer shall reimburse at the rate of thirty six dollars and eighty five cents ($36.85) per credit hour, or the actual cost, whichever is less. For classes taken in pursuit of a Bachelor's degree, the Employer shall reimburse at the rate of one hundred forty seven dollars and eighty cents ($147.80) per credit hour, or the actual cost, whichever is less. These rates shall increases at the same percentage rate as the employee's wage rate increases.
E. Upon completion of an eligible course the employee shall promptly submit to the Employer a copy of the course grade report and a receipt issued by the college or university setting forth the cost of tuition.
F. Reimbursement shall be one hundred percent (100%) for an "A" or equivalent, ninety percent (90%) for a "B" or equivalent and eighty percent (80%) for a "C" or equivalent.
G. No reimbursement will be granted for books, papers, supplies, transportation, meals or any other expense connected with any course except the cost of tuition.
H. Employees will be expected to repay the Employer any tuition reimbursement received in the prior four (4) years on a pro-rated basis if they voluntarily leave employment as follows: During the first (1st) year 100% During the second (2nd) year 75% During the third (3rd) year 50% During the fourth (4th) year 25% Time will begin upon date of reimbursement.

Reimbursement Program. All employees of the bargaining unit may participate in the City's Tuition Reimbursement Program. Under this program, each employee shall be eligible for a maximum of three thousand dollars ($3,000) in reimbursement per calendar year for fees and required textbooks, and courses of instruction voluntarily undertaken. Courses of instruction eligible for reimbursement under this program shall include courses necessary for job-related degree programs or courses of study not necessarily within a job-related degree program but which are still job- related. In addition, only coursework provided by a recognized institution (e.g. college, university, community college, post-secondary technical school, etc.) shall be eligible for reimbursement under this program. No reimbursement shall be approved for correspondence courses.
Reimbursement Program. Each bargaining unit member shall be eligible, upon approval of the Sheriff, for a reimbursement of all tuition costs in courses of instruction voluntarily undertaken or required of him, provided the courses are work related. Any member requesting tuition reimbursement to attend an educational institution must submit to the Sheriff the following for approval:
A. A letter stating the name of the institution to be attended;
B. The length and time of the class or course;
C. The subject matter of the class or course and how it is related to the member's job description; and
D. The cost of the class or course. This letter is to be sent to the Sheriff at least thirty (30) days in advance of the beginning date of the class or course. If the Sheriff approves such attendance, a letter of approval shall be provided as soon as possible. Every attempt should be made to obtain outside funding before seeking reimbursement from the office. Only educational courses that directly benefit the member in his or her Office duties will be taken under consideration by the Sheriff. Reimbursement is limited to a maximum of one hundred seventy-five ($175.00) dollars per quarter hour or two hundred fifty ($250.00) dollars per semester hour up to a maximum of five thousand ($5,000.00) per calendar year. Employees are eligible for up to thirty thousand total tuition reimbursement during their employment with the Sheriff’s Office. Upon completion of the approved course by the member, a letter of verification from the institution shall be necessary to show successful completion of said course. Successful completion shall require a grade of pass (pass/fail courses), 2.00 or higher, or "C" or better. If a member’s employment with the Sheriff’s Office terminates, unless from death or forced resignation as a consequence of disability, the member shall reimburse the Sheriff’s Office for any tuition reimbursement received through this Article for a period of twenty-four (24) months prior to the date of termination. Failure to promptly reimburse the Sheriff’s Office will result in legal action for recovery
Reimbursement Program. Each employee , with a minimum of one year of continuous service shall be eligible for a reimbursement of tuition, course fees and lab fees in courses of instruction taken towards an associate's and/or a bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university. The rate of reimbursement shall be one hundred percent (100%), provided that a grade C or better is attained in a course subject to a maximum limit of $2,000 per employee per calendar year.
A. All courses must be taken during other than scheduled working hours. All scheduled hours of courses of instruction must be filed with the Chief of Police or his or her designee and with the Department of Human Resources. All scheduled times of courses must be approved by the Appointing Authority. Any situation which, in the discretion of the Appointing Authority, would require an employee's presence on the job, shall take complete and final precedence over any times scheduled for courses. This $2,000 amount is calculated based upon the dates checks are issued to the employee from the City. Employees must submit the grade and appropriate documentation displaying the cost of the course within 60 days of the course completion. Upon receipt of proper documentation, the City will issue this check within two weeks of the date received.
B. Any financial assistance from any governmental or private agency available to a employee, whether or not applied for and regardless of when such assistance may have been received, shall be deducted in the entire amount from the full tuition reimbursement the employee is eligible for under this Section. If an employee's tuition is fully covered by another governmental or private agency, then the employee is not entitled to any payment from the City.
C. No reimbursement will be granted for books, paper, supplies of whatever nature, transportation, meals, or any other expense connected with any course except the cost of tuition.
D. Employees must obtain their purchase orders from the Human Resources Department prior to the first day of class. Reimbursements for courses will only occur after all items required are submitted to Human Resources. Human Resources will then process the purchase order for reimbursement. This same requirement applies when reimbursement is being made directly to the school.

Reimbursement Program. The City will provide the following exclusionary tuition reimbursement plan that allows for non-taxable reimbursements under the then current IRS regulations to all Members after one year of continuous employment, subject to the following terms and conditions:
A. Members will be reimbursed for his/her tuition expenses, subject to the limits set forth below, upon the following:
1. Proof that the member has paid the expense; and
2. Proof that the member received a passing grade when taking class “pass/fail” or a grade not lower than a "C". The City will only honor reimbursement requests submitted within thirty (30) days after the receipt of a Member's final grade.
B. All classes eligible for tuition reimbursement must be pre-approved. No class taken without pre-approval shall be eligible for reimbursement.
C. Classes eligible for reimbursement shall meet the following standards:
1. The class must be provided at or through a state accredited institution of higher education
2. The class must be one that is part of a course of study previously approved by the City. For example, if the City has approved a degree program with a major in criminology then any course, regardless of the subject that will further that degree shall be approved. It is the City's intention to approve only those degree programs with a major that is related in some fashion to police work. It is the member's burden to establish that the degree program is related to police work.
3. If the member does not have a pre-approved degree program then the approval shall be on a class-by-class basis. Again it is the City's intention to approve only those classes that are related in some fashion to police work. It is the member's burden to establish that the degree program is related to police work.
4. The City will establish rules and regulations for the application of the approval of either the degree programs or the individual classes, including but not limited to time limitations and forms for making application.
5. No reimbursement shall be provided for attendance in an academic program leading to a degree at a law school.
D. For calendar year 2008, tuition reimbursement shall be limited to ten (10) credit hours per member, per school quarter/semester, at the "Columbus Campus
E. Should a member voluntarily resign employment within two (2) years of receipt of any tuition reimbursement hereunder, the member shall reimburse the City for all tuition reimbursement he or she received within the two (2)...

The City will compensate employees at time and one-half (1-1/2) for 25 training which the City requires employees to take on off-duty time and will pay for necessary books, materials, 26 mileage, tuition, and other necessary expenses. 27 28 The City shall, as a matter of policy, encourage employees to further their education by taking job-related training 29 which is not required by the City. All scheduled hours for courses of instruction must be filed with the employee's immediate supervisor and with the City Manager's office. All scheduled times of courses must be approved by the Chief and/or City Manager. Any situation, which in the discretion of the Chief would require a member's presence on the job shall take complete and final precedence over any times scheduled for courses.
C. Any financial assistance from any governmental or private agency available to an employee, whether or not applied for and regardless of when such assistance may have been received shall be deducted in the entire amount from the tuition reimbursement the employee is eligible for under this Section.
D. No reimbursement will be granted for books, papers, supplies of whatever nature, transportation, meals or any other expense connected with any course except the cost of tuition.
E. Reimbursement for tuition will be made when the Employee presents an official certification, or its equivalent, and a receipt of payment from the institution confirming satisfactory completion of the approved course.
▇. ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ of tuition will be at one hundred percent (100%) with a maximum reimbursement per employee per year set at the beginning of each fiscal year by the City Manager based on budget constraints.

1. A grade of "C" or better, ("B" or better in a graduate level course.);
2. A passing grade in a pass/fail course;
Reimbursement Program. The City shall share tuition reimbursement expenses with employees interested in attaining a higher level of technical or general competence through advanced education in such courses as may be determined by the Chief Executive Officer, upon prior approval, to relate to the employee's job with the City.
