Request for Sick Leave. Sick leave shall be requested in advance when possible. Such request shall be answered within 2 (two) work days. In the case of illness, injury, emergency or any other absence not approved in advance, the employee should inform the first level of supervision outside the bargaining unit of the circumstances as soon as possible. An employee may be required to submit substantiating evidence when the reason for the leave request was a medical or dental appointment or when the Agency Head and/or his/her Designee suspects sick leave abuse. Substantiating evidence may be required if the sick leave absence exceeds three consecutive workdays.
