– Rest Periods and Meal Break. 10.1 All employees shall be given midway during the first half and midway during the second half of their shift, a fifteen (15) minute rest period without deduction of pay. All employees shall be allowed a one-half (1/2) hour unpaid meal break as close to midway point of their shift as possible. 10.2 If overtime is in excess of two (2) hours, the employees shall receive a one-half (1/2) hour unpaid meal break and meal provided by the Employer. This meal break is to be taken at the end of the first two (2) hours of overtime. If, however, overtime is worked not continuous with regular working hours, employees shall receive their regular rest breaks as set out in Article 10(1). 10.3 The Employer agrees to allow a five (5) minute cleanup time for the Wash Floor and the Check-In Department employees when handling soiled linen. This cleanup time shall be taken before coffee breaks and lunch periods, and before quitting time.
– Rest Periods and Meal Break a) Employees working a seven and a half (7½) hour shift shall be permitted a paid rest period of fifteen (15) consecutive minutes in the first half and in the second half of a shift. b) Employees working five (5) consecutive hours or more shall be permitted to take their thirty (30) minute unpaid meal break at a time mutually agreeable to the employee and the Employer. c) Rest periods and meal breaks, once started, will be uninterrupted except in cases of emergency. Where the rest period or meal break is interrupted due to an emergency, the Employer will make every effort to allow employees to take the balance of the rest period or meal break at a later time during the shift. Where the Employer determines that this is not possible for operational reasons, the employee will be paid for the meal break and/or rest period at the employee’s regular rate of pay. d) If the Employer requires the employee to remain at the residence during their meal break, they will be paid their regular rate of pay for the thirty (30) minute meal break. e) Registered Practical Nurses (“RPNs”) who were employed by the Employer prior to the date of ratification, or the date of the interest arbitration award, of the first collective agreement between the parties (“Current RPNs”) who are scheduled to work on evening, overnight and weekend RPN shifts will be required to stay on the premises and to be on call while on their meal break. Current RPNs will be paid their regular rate of pay for the thirty (30) minute meal break.

  • Meal Breaks and Rest Periods For each seven and one-half (7 ½) hour shift, subject to the provisions of Article 14.09, the Employer shall provide an unpaid meal break of one-half (½) hour and paid rest periods totalling one-half (½) hour, not to be taken in less than two (2) breaks. The Employer shall schedule meal breaks in such a way that an Employee be permitted to leave their work area. Operational requirements may be such that these breaks may not be able to be taken off the premises. These breaks shall be prorated for shift duration.

  • Rest Period During each normal work day, Saturdays, Sundays, and shift work, employees will be entitled to two (2) ten (10) minute paid rest periods to be scheduled and observed. When working a four (4) day, ten (10) hour schedule, the rest period will be fifteen (15) minutes each. - one (1) rest period at the mid-way point of the first half of the normal hours of work; - one (1) rest period at the mid-point of the second half of the normal hours of work. Rest period will be measured from ceasing work to commencement of labour and will be taken at a time determined by the employer.

  • Rest Periods All employees shall have two, 15-minute rest periods in each work period in excess of six hours, one rest period to be granted before and one after the meal period. Employees working a shift of three and one-half hours, but not more than six hours, shall receive one rest period during such a shift. Rest periods shall not begin until one hour after the commencement of work or not later than one hour before either the meal period or the end of the shift. Rest periods shall be taken without loss of pay to the employees.
