Common use of Section 9.8 Clause in Contracts

Section 9.8. 48 37 Employees who change job classifications within the bargaining unit shall retain their seniority hire dates in 1 the 38 previous classifications, classification notwithstanding that they have acquired a new hire date and a new 39 classification. For the purposes of seniority as it’s defined in this article, employees will also retain the 40 total number of years they worked in their previous classification seniority date. 2 Employees hired into but not accumulate any more as long 41 as they work in a different job classification shall retain classification. Employees will only be able use this previously described 42 seniority should they lose all or part of their years of service (longevity) with 3 the Districtcurrent position.
